Hello, can anyone recommend a top board suitable for weak knees and soft landings?

I'm looking for an all-round freeride board light in weight, with a soft flex and a good concave for soft landings and shock absorption. I'd like the board to have a smooth ride in choppy waters (and no spray!) as this is the main condition when I ride a tt, otherwise I'm on my surfboard.

Last summer I was kiting with two torn ACL's and was taking it pretty easy.

I have tried a variety of twin tips. The two that I found easiest on my knees were the Ocean Rodeo Mako (2010 150x40) and the Wainman Hawaii Blunt v1 (130x40.5). I found that the Blunt took a little getting used to but in the end was far easier on my knees than the Mako. The Blunt was also a lot more fun. Neither had any face spray.

I just gave away my Mako to a new rider and he is stoked on the board for really choppy days. That being said I would love to try out a 2011 Mako as the new core sounds like it would have some flex.

I have had my surgery to repair one ACL so far. I am still getting stronger and waiting too try out my new Wainman Joke. I took a chance and picked up this board after reading that it was smooth.

best board I've found for cushioning those fast landings is the blankforce advisory carbon 130x40 - I got rid of the stock fins that came with it though - I thought they were way too big...

I also suffer bad knees, i have had a number of boards, i have found the LaLuz to be super good when it comes to landings, have a look at all the write ups, they cant all be wrong. If you get a chance give one a go, i bet ask any guy you see with one if you could try it out would only be too pleased to let you try. My knees are not taking a pounding any more, good luck

Try any of the twin tips from North, the X Ride would be my suggestion

I've tested a Mako freeride and I was very impressed with the carving and general feeling but the board split in two as I was riding it, and that put me a little off the brand...

Probably so far the favourite could be the Wainman Blunt, I thought to give this one a go as I can get a demo from a local retailer, and there is no way I consider anything without testing before.

I've also heard some good reviews from Nobile and Shinn.. any feedbacks on these??

I have knee problems for more then 15 years.

My vote goes for the Aboards Zseries, very good performance and gentle for the knees.

Hi, I own both a Blunt 130 and a Joke 134 and they are pure fun! I would suggest you opt for the Joke the reason being that it has an edge on landings. No matter how you throw her , it will land you softly and balanced. Having said that they both have no spray problems and are very agile.
Blunt more upwind and freeride, Joke more loose and great pop...you cannot go wrong with either one.

Another great board for your need is the F-one Trax, it does everything well...soft landings ensured

Good point on the Joke which seem to have good reviews, one problem for me: been a designer myself and in my thirties, I believe that the design standards in kitesurfing are generally poor and mainly targeting a teenage audience. But the Joke for me is a true masterpiece of horrid, a real joke in fact (!) that I cannot believe a brand like Wainman has managed to put in their production chain. And I'm not the only one with this view. Sorry but I say NO! Might give the Blunt a go...

It has a bottom shape that breaks the water on landing, to make them softer. It also have some rocker making it go more soft in chop.
