Not all are 3 fin - the Airush Monaro V3 is a quad.
I read a recent interview in a magazine with Alex Aguera where he said he was still finding on back to back tests that his board in quad fin configuration was better upwind than in tri in very light wind, but the gap had been closing.
Riccardo Leccese finished 4th at the 2011 PKRA Mexico event on the Aguera 59 in 4 fin setup.

Yes, you are right that some boards still come in four.
But you are talking about the Cr59 and the new board from aguera the LE69, all are using in 3.
Also the monaro V3, we are waiting for the Rolf response, about if the new monaro that will go will be on 4 or 3.
Ricardo are not using anymore the CR59, i think now he has a wider board

Yep, there is a move towards 3 fins and it may well be that they will dominate, because the quad advantage seems to only be upwind in light winds. The Cabrinhas do offer the choice of using 3 or 4 fins with the 2012 boards.

The pro riders in open class could not believe my cousin would keep up with a production board. The cr59 is a production board, but Riccardo was competing in open class where the boards are much better.
that board was sold. He used a tri fin setup afterwards. He got the new LE69 ,but didn't like it so he sold it. He was using mikes lab before the competition in Germany, but the board never arrived to destination. Now he's waiting for another one. by the way, Mikes lab are ahead of AA in performance.
