The Yourmmod Kitecup decided to go in Portugal, specifically in Nazare, for its second edition.

If you open Wikipedia, you will find the following definition of Nazare: Nazare is a city in Portugal with a totale area of ​​82.4 km and total population of 14 904 inhabitants. It is a village rich in history with deeply traditions, good food and lively nightlife scene which only Portuguese get the secret.

So, you can for example enjoying this place and go to N. Sra. da Nazaré Sanctuary & Memória Chapel, see the drying of the dried fish next to the building of the Old Fish Market, go to pedralva garden to see the landscape from Monte Branco, taste the local gastronomy, specially the seafood and fish in any restaurant...

In other side, Nazaré became a tourist resort, thanks to its long beach’s (considered like the most beautiful beaches of Portugal).Thanks to all these advantages, Nazaré is, since the mid-twentieth century, the favorite destination of famous writers, artists and photographers.

But Nazaré also happens to be a gem for lovers of water sports. Indeed, in this place, you can find the most beautiful and powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the wind blows steadily, especially in summer.

It looks crazy, but, this magical place for kite has, to date, received no such event yet.

But the local authorities are determined that things change, like the president of Nazaré Qualifica, EEM, Dr. Miguel Sousinha : ' We invest in events that by their nature provide a differentiation and bring added value by reputation, in a national and international level, that projects Nazaré as a major center for the realization of events linked to the sea and associated sports.The Yourmood Kitecup has those characteristics, the reason why we are associated. We believe that, once again, Nazaré will host a fantastic event with national and international impact. That is our mission: transform Nazaré as a privilege stage on the worldwide water sports scene'.

Mass is said. Take the ambitions and potential of the site, add the motivation of riders that will be unlimited to ride and enjoy a place like this and you get the Yourmood Kitecup 2, an event that already looks outstanding !

That's it, we're almost there, the month of August has arrived and with it the prospect of Yourmood Kitecup to be held in less than two weeks.

Time is coming to speak about the rule's competiton and all things competitors need to competing.

For each competitor, valid third-party liability insurance shall be. No insurance no entry on the contest. In case of necessity the Portuguese Kite Federation can arrange this insurance for a price of 35€ (the all week). This insurance need to be asked to the organizers until the 18th August and payed on the 22th during the registration. Competitor needs to be 18 years old at registration (if less than 18, parental agreement required). And, like for every kite event, rider needs to be recognised by a general practitioner or specialist as being able to practice Kiteboarding.

For this first edition outside the Swiss, very famous kiters we will honor their presence, among them Kari Schibevaag, the Norwegian World Champion in 2009 !
Kari knows the Portugal “I have been to portugal many times (Santa Cruz/Guincho) and I love it there. The waves are amazing and the people also. Kari follows, all the year, the waves World Tour, Yourmood Kitecup is an opportunity for her to have a good time while training “I am coming to the Mood cup for the first time and I hope it will be a nice event. I hope it will be good waves and wind in Nazare so we can have some fun. Can’t wait to go there !”
The competition is open to girls of course, best competitors like Kari who are entitled to win the prize money or so novices riders who want to make their beginning on the competitive format, meeting the best riders in a relaxed and joyful Mood !

« Everything is getting Ready in Nazare to prepare the launch of the competition. 3 differents beaches are waiting for the best kitesurfers to compete on the wave and freestyle » according to Cedric Chevalley Kite Cup manager, who add « Nazare is a awesome village with incredibles spots and beaches. The local crew is amazing and we are waiting for a simple but fantastic week. Only 4 short days before the start of the festivities on the Portuguese coast. The excitement begins to be felt around of Nazaré, the riders arrive one after another to meet the spot and the organization is on the alert in order to make everything ok for this event that we are impatiently waiting !

The good news is that weather forecasts are already optimistic: the sun, waves, wind (around 20 knots, just perfect), this is what announces Windguru, support for benchmark weather wind, by early next week.

At worst, even if the wind contradicts science and waves visit us, a lot of activities will be offered to riders: Surf contest, SUP race, sight seeing at Nazareth, parties ... In short, everything riders need to have fun !

If the wind, as seems to be expected, graces us with his presence, even a race will be launched (once the waves and freestyle races finished). In twin tip board or race (it will be defined the day of the competition), a minimum of 15 riders set off in a race around buoys, the first three places will be rewarded.

Finally, the last good news of the day, Jeremy Tronet and Linn attend the event and make a video (we all know the reputation about fabulous Jeremie's videos ...) of their trip to Portugal and their transition to the Yourmood Kitecup 2011.

The week looks more promising, go to 4 days on the awesome waves of Nazareth
