Winter (Jan/Feb) wave destination

Postby Tony » Thu Aug 11, 2011 1:06 am

Looking for a destination with waves and wind. Travelling from NC, USA, so ideally somewhere in the Caribbean, mexico, eastern europe, etc.
Two kiters and their non-kiting wives ... so somewhere the wives would also be happy.
Thanks.
Tony

How about La Ventana, Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Grand Cayman?

Hi Tony,

how about Cabarete in the Dominican Republic? It's very consitent windwise year round and there is really good wavekiting in the winter months, wenn ne nices swells come in. The best wavekiting is in Palya Encuentro. Here are some pictures from last week http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 784&type=1.

Cabarete has also a lot to offer apart from kiting. Nice restaurants, some nightlife, beautiful beaches to explore, waterfalls etc.

You can reach Cabarete very easy and cheap from the US with Jetblue or American Airlines flying to Puerto Plata (POP).

If you are interested have a look at www.hookedcabarete.com. We are a nice little boutique hotel in Cabarete at Palya Encuentro, where you can meet up with other active people (we get manly kiters and surfers staying with us) or just relax in the beautiful garden.

If you have any further questions, regardless wether you want to stay with us or not, just let me know.

Aloha
Nino

Hi Tony,

I was reading: waves, wind, non-kiting wives Jan/Feb and thought:

hold on, I know the perfect place: Sao Vicente (one of the Cape Verde Islands). :P

but then again flight is not perfect: 2 stops necessary to get there, one in the US (Atlanta/Detroit/Minneapolis/New York/Memphis) and the other in Amsterdam.
