use quality SD cards. I can't stress this enough

I only use Sandisk cards. the Ultra II's work great because they are plenty fast for HD video and still pretty cheap compared to Extreme III's

16GB is the perfect size for 1 battery charge as well. no need to buy 32GB cards unless you are swapping batteries mid session, and if you do that you might as well swap cards while you are at it.

Transcend is a company notorious for making SD cards that work a few times and then have a bit error and turn into a very very tiny paper weight.

oh yeah and for fogging issues:

take 1 square of toilet paper.

fold it into 1/4"-1/2" folds from 1 side all the way across.

rip that into 3 evenly sized pieces.

set these pieces on a cookie sheet in the oven on 350degrees F for 5 minutes.

pop in camera and go


you will never have a camera fog as long as you do this every time.

one final tip. reuse the toilet paper pieces. just pop them in the oven each time and they will work just like they did the first time.

having the card shift I have heard of this before, but it was because a friend who films with a GoPro was using a micro SD card with the SD adapter. He told me it always stopped recording, so he eventually went with a SD card.
Overall the winter months, we (my test team up here in Seattle and SF area) did a considerable amount of testing prior to final design.
Not once did any of us experience card failures like you experienced.
Not sure what to think.
With the camera out of the housing, I do see when I hit the side of the GoPro against my palm, it does push the card out of position. I just can't see how you can achieve as much impact with your board against the water.
I'm unsure of how to resolve this.
My guess it is either the card or the camera.
Does this only do it with the fin mount?
Or does it also stop recording with the line mount or helmet mount?
BTW I'm still working on the 5th line setup....

@stringy: You are doing such a great job. I love the new fin mount. Just used it with my wakeboard and shot great pictures.

A question regarding the SD-card getting out: I noticed that when I put in the card it clicks like it should. However I'm able to get out the card rather easily with a finger nail. Is this normal for a Gopro? If yes than I really need to start working on my landing...

I am not able to pull mine out that easy, maybe your camera is defective?
