This is where it is at Awesome!
Ivanpah Dry Lake bed is one of the greatest places to kite on KGB or buggies,....it has been awhile....but back in the day I was out there on a tandem buggy, with a Ozone razor, my girlfriend and a GPS telling me 71.9 mph was the top speed....my girlfriend yelling at me to stop going fast and noticed that we, parallel to the highway were passing cars.....really cool to experience.
Then I note how many people try on snow/water to "GO"....little do they know, that it is the dry lake bed that they must get on to really get moving....so little friction! So much wind!!
here is in your accomplishment my thoughts on speed confirmed.....60mph normal 70 mph normal 80mph do-able with perfect conditions and great kite/kite skills/buggy skills....
That lake bed holds the secrets for speed.....
Hope that you had FUN!

This world speed record was set by Dutchman Arjen van der Tol who also will try to set a world distance record snowkiting in Greenland...see
http://www.snowbuggy.nl for details.
Arjen also holds, together with two team members, the world distance record within 24 hrs : 1.050 km.
