If you are going to be a spokesman for you company of kite you can't write this type of tripe.

This Rocky guy may have been over the top, rude or whatever but he was not putting people at risk in what is an already extreme sport. Your comments are simply irresponsible and can lead to accidents. Marketing hype like yours that puts clients at risk is not only unethical, but really bad for business. You don't put your customers at risk.

Anybody that does not have at least some doubts about their safety with a 9m kite up in 50mph winds is either lying or does not know what they are talking about, especially if it's up in the Gorge.

He also said that the Infinity drags downwind and many of his buddies who rode it were unable to ride upwind. Which is why I stopped pestering you about getting a demo of one

Meh. I would have been more impressed if he'd stood by his statement rather than bowing to public opinion.

Props to you RockyChatwell for your apology. Maybe a little slow in coming, but professionally done.

Kamikuza: Think you are off base. He did stand by his original words as he indicated he "was just disappointed in how this kite flew"...but the manner in which he expressed his opinion was "unprofessional."

Please dont mistake my personal experience for hype. Speaking from one rider to another, the One 9 handled winds of over 40kts. I do have some experience in high winds so I'm aware of my limits. I'm also alot quicker to pull the safety when its that heavy. You can take this information and judge it how you wish but, I really shared this experience to show that the kite can operate well beyond its recommended range.

I do not recommend riding the One 9 in 40kts. I also do not recommend that ANY rider that is not confident in their abilities to put a kite up in even 10 kts. I've seen more than a few people get hurt participating in this sport. Myself included.

Ultimately we all make our own choices when it comes to our safety. The act of kiteboarding itself is a choice that puts one's safety at risk. It comes down to the rider to educate themselves through lessons, friends, videos, etc. I see you are in Malibu....I strongly recommend not driving to the beach! Driving is definitely more dangerous that kiting there.

I've found that approaching every day you ride with some humility and awareness that the conditions WILL change has kept me relatively safe. I'm 10 years into this and still learning every day. Hopefully this clarifies my perspective when I wrote my original response.
