north rebel 2012 vs 2011

Postby dimitri12 » Mon Nov 14, 2011 12:02 am

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the difference in the flying caracteristics between the 2012 and the 2011 rebels?. I already have read about the new features like for example the adjustable bar pressure and the new wing tips so I already know that. what i want to know is if the kite relaunches and flies better than 2011. thanks in advanced.

Hi,

what do you mean with:" flies better"? I flew both kites. For me there is no big difference between these both kites. I´ve 2011 in 7/10. No reason to change to 2012. Relaunch is easy with 2011 and 2012.

Aloha

Thomas

Thomas,

thanks for the reply and that is the info I wanted to know. I have a good offer on the 2011 but wanted to know if the 2012 would be a better option by paying a little more but now that you told me they that they are pretty much the same I preffer to go with the 2011 as I can save some money. Thomas also on the sizes what do you recommend. my local conditions are between 12 knots up to 20 mainly and I weigh around 165 lbs. thanks.

+ 1

I just bought a 2012 10 m , my kite suplier ran out of 2011 10 m rebels... :-?
and I weight more than you.. (used to weight 176 lb.... but I am 187 lb today :o  :angryfire: )

If i were you I would definetly buy a 10 m too, it is a much more fun kite than the 11 m
and not big diference in low end, allmost the same i would say for your weight
according to North Windrange 10 m ...14 - 28 knots // 11 m 13 - ??

Idobyms,

I guess I will go for a 14,10 and 7 quiver, do you think it will be a good quiver for my weigh and wind condition?.

HI , dimitri! if you ask me....

where do you kite ?? in land lakes ? or ocean beaches ?
what i mean is you have really steady winds??

either way, I think i would never buy a 14 ... not to my weight, much less for you
who are lighter than me.
2 kites quiver... 10 and 7 m (the 7 starts realllly early on a 165 lbs guy.. 18-20 knots already jumping)

3 kites quiver.... may be 12/9/6 should be more accurate answer... but
1º i would want a 10 for sure,
2º if you don`t get 30 + knots to often, it is not worth buying a 6 m..

My opinion, 12 - 20 knots spot , 165 lbs 10 and 7 is good enough
If you want 3 kites , 12/10/7 would be my choice together with a lightwind board 8)

:thumb: good luck!

Last year I had a 7-10-14 fuse quiver my local conditions are 8-30 year round, I am about 165-170 maybe 175 in the winter in snow gear. This year I have a 6-8-10-12 rebels and a dyno 16 as my light wind kite. I really liked my 14 but in till the dyno came out it wAs my big kite, there was a bunch of days I used it and race board when a 12 would not have been enough. But there is a big difference in feel between the 12 and 14 if you need a big kite the 14 is a blast to ride but the12 is much more playful..I here the 13 is fun in the 2012 rebels, maybe a 13-10-7 would be fun. I thought the 14-10-7 quiver was great since I like big kites for floaty jumps..

If your conditions are 12-20knots.... and you have some decent riding level, a 12m would suit that whole range. If it goes higher than 20 then consider also a smaller kite.

I have very similar weight and wind conditions. Most seen quiver here is 8m and 12m. Up to 17-18 knots you may use 12m, from there you use the 8 up to 28-30.

It also depend on your board

Juaorpo and Billy thanks for your posts. Idobyms I like the idea to purchase a light wind board to use with the 12m on those light wind days. I was thinking of buying a north wam but I dont know if I should go with the 5'8 or 5'10 as is my first directional board, If anyone could help me I appreciate your thoughts. thanks.
