MacDonald Pass gave us a sweet soft snow session yesterday, the wind was hitting the low 20s, powder was a foot deep and the sun was shining.
Four of us, Cale from Missoula, Chris and me from Bozeman and Brian from nearby Helena spent the morning and early afternoon cutting up the fresh snow that was recently laid down atop the pass.
My 11m Frenzy was the perfect kite choice that day: Just enough size to pull meaty 20’ boosts and just enough speed to cut up all the fresh snow. Over and over we cycled across the highest reaches of the pass and by the end of the session we had tracked and packed the place out. No, not really. We left a little for the next crew to session.
How come no one else hits that spot?? As I have said before: “If I lived in Helena I would session that shit every day. I’d set up a rail and hit it under the headlights every night.” Yeah. Good kiting at MacDonald Pass. Atop the Divide. Post session we hammered each of the five different IPAs at Lewis and Clark's new tap room in Helena. Hoppy!
See ya out there,
Noah
