I am thinking about going to lake Silvaplana, but I am not so sure about the weather conditions.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Nico

you may get in contact with "Cottone".
His name is Chris (German) and he will be there from beginning of August. Then he could tell you more about Sylvaplana.

Hi,
I'm thinking of going there on Sunday, it will be my first trip to Silvaplana.
How crowded is it during the weekends? maybe to crowded???
What is the usual behaviour of the wind and how strong is it during a sunny day?
Where is the best launch spot?
Cheers,
Bosse

I just called Stephan and he is optimistic!
Unfortunately, I have never been there before.

I live here in Switzerland and like to welcom you for kitesurfing. Silvaplana is the best spot in CH during the summer. When the wether is good, there is a big chance to have strong termic winds, that means 5-6bft. But take into consideration that the lake is in the mountains, about 1600meter over see level, the air is thinn and you need bigger kites!
The only spot where Kitesurfing is alowed at lake silvaplana is close to the sport center mulents, located in silvaplana. You will see the kites on the beach. Usualy on weekends the place is a little bit busy, i.e. last weekend we counted up to 60 kites in the air! But no worries, if you feel bad, go upwind on top of the windsurfers and you have the hole see sharing with me and some 3-4 other kiters
)
The water is about 16°C and the air is not very warm also!
Have a nice time in Switzerland...
Andy

Btw. Sorry Andy but Silvaplana is 1800 M and I think it's very crowded on week end.
Also 5-6 Bft. seem a bit optimistic or maybe I got alwqys badluck when I'm up there.
Anyway it's amazing beautyful Spot in one of the nicest area in Switzerland
