Hi

Forget the Lotus lake super gusty, toxic nobody rides there. As for the Lagoons between Vung Tau
I'd say you chances are slim. Not good news really. There are a few spots further north towards Nha Trang and to the south at Khe Ga.

Mui Ne is bump and jump with shore break and too easy where the bars and hotels line the beach. If you want out of the way adventure I would head out ot Phu Quy island.. there are flat spots there as well as some killer swell and cranking winds.

I leave for Mui Ne in a few days and I have been trying to find evidence of landboarding at the dunes. Obviously not the main wind attraction but are people dune kiting here? Phu Quy sounds like my paradise :thumb:

I've kited at Vung Tau on the open ocean but there is a flat water spot further on up the coast, about an hours drive. To get the exact spot logon to this forum... it sounds nice

Also Lotus Lake is still ok to kite if the wind in Mui Ne isn't blowing.
It seems to have its own micro-climate and blows everyday.
Yes it does get gusty and for sure the water isn't clear but i can still do all my tricks.
I wouldn't specifically go there to kite only. Only as a back up when Mui Ne was dead.

Anyone in Nha Trang at the moment that can report on the conditions?

I'm in Mui Ne at the moment and thinking of heading north soon.

thanks

Yea Phu Quy rules! Was there for a week in 2009. Super strong winds, good surf, good butter in the 'skatepark'. Legit!!!

The lotus ponds are stank nasty doo doo, plus the wind is gusty, unless you like kiting in sewage I would stay away

If you can't get to Phu Quy, go to Phan Rang, there's some choice butter on the inside of the reef up there. Just talk to Anthony or Jan (the Ozone riders) at Mellow. They run Vietnam kite tours and are great guys. (I'll never forget watching Anthony shredding a wave unhooked on a surf board and throwing a big fat laid out tantrum off the lip with a full Jesus Christ pose, sticking it then bottom turning and then hucking another tantrum again. So sick!)
