K2 Clicker Bindings on Snowshoes!?

Postby Vin Stefanelli » Thu Dec 29, 2011 10:57 pm

I missed 'em again on a E-Bay auction!
I have been hoarding K2 clicker boots n' bindings for myself since i realized they were out of production
They are the BEST I can fit 3 boards in one rolling hard-case w/no disassembly required
Easy on and easy off when i need to walk over to my kite

and when i go to the slopes
i just whizz by all these huge groups with their butts on the ground
sounding off like a weird High tone drum circle
really the days are just too short in the winter to dawdle away precious minutes when there are other options

So back to the Snowshoes
I grabbed a pair of MSR's @ a Campmor today
(MSR appears to be the manufacturer that once collaborated with K2)
and drilled out the six rivots holding on the clunky rubber straps

for anyone who cares to know,...
this is going to be soooooooo easy to retrofit

I will likely add more info and maybe even photos as things progress

I used to use clickers. Really liked them. Then when the toe cap bindings came out I just preferred them. Still easy on/off while standing and with a much wider boot selection. Wish the snowboard companies could have agreed on a step-in standard that did not clog up with wet snow.

Anyhow, I remember they used to make a clicker compatible snowshoe as you probably have seen. You can probably find these on ebay as well;

Hey Vin
Im with you except I swear by the burton step ins. Not sure theyde do well with snowshoes but I too chuckle at the knuckle draggers ratcheting away on their butts as I click in right off the chair. Im in VT and so collecting that so called "obsolete" tech is easy at local ski swaps. Good luck with your idea. Possibly catch u at Tug hill as Rachael's gig is up. Don't come up here yet, no snow. no ice :we've got nothin :nono:

Yea maybe one day one of the more multi-faceted Kite companies
will look up and buy the K2/Shimano Patent, buy it, and bring it back to the public!

made for vertical terrain, but i have used them in the
flats after the shuts off,and they work great!!
as far as pack-ability they cannot be beat.
and the binding accepts any boot.
