La nina, el crapo, global warming, climate change, polar tilt, the myan's have come early... All I know is that in my 55 years I have never experienced a winter like this in N Idaho. Just after Christmas we had a thunder and lightening storm roll through that knocked me out of bed-never experienced that in December. Just yesterday it was 52 F. I am experienceing major depressive mode due to the lack of snow. We have some epic terrain around here, but no snow. My guess we will get snow in March and April right in the middle of track season

I hear ya backcountry, I also got tired of waiting for the snow so I looked into a kite buggy. There are on-line ideas on how to build. finished mine yesterday and took it for a spin-totally pegged out the adrenalin meter!! Had 20-38 mph winds with a 5m, rolled it 3 times but nothing but a minor bruise- I'm hooked!

I'm loving it! I hate the cold and we had so much wind last year it was unreal. The winter has been crappy for wind but not being cold rules. Only problem was the drought we faced. I used to think La Nina and El Nino where just made up crap because the weather men didn't know what was going on. Now that I'm in a sport that relies on the wind I still think they don't have a clue but can get lucky every once in a while lol.

In this part of the world, eastern Newfoundland, we are usually covered in snow also. Yesterday was around freezing but a nice 20 knot westerly so the water was the place to be. With the Drysuit technology from companies such as Ocean Rodeo I see no need to have limit yourself to the snow in winter. Any session is better than no session.
