Hey Guys,
I'm a kiter and a skier. So I want to get a decent mount for my contour+. The one that came with it (adhesive profile and square) comes off pretty easy so I do not really trust it. Any suggestions on which ones to get?
(I'll also need to pick up the waterproof case)

Yep, I see that we are in agreement with regards to the adhesive. It's almost as if they want you to lose the camera so that you will buy another one.
I don't think I'm handy enough to do what you did, and I also don't have the parts easily available for me. I'm looking for a more simple solution.
I will definitely be using a leash as well. The camera came off after two days of skiing in spite of what ever adhesive they use. All it took was me running over a small rock to so. This caused vibration and the camera went flying. I didn't even need to eat shit.
So is it not worth buying one of their other mounts if the damn thing is just gonna rely on an adhesive? I should just use duck tape and leash it?

Ok. I'll play a little jazz for you. What helmet do you have? To make the large hole just use a decent size knife start in the middle and ream (twist) out the hole where you want the mount to go. I'm assuming you have a 360 surface mount should have two in the box. Drill out those holes. If you cant find bolts try some small cable ties instead that will also work. Anyone can do this it is not hard at all. I'm all played out.
To be honest I have not come across any helmet mount that attaches securely enough with out some sort of adhesive. There are some strap mounts meant for biking helmets but they tend to be unstable. You could look at a Kite Hero line mounts that is also an option but a different POV.

Looking at your post a little more closely, I see that it is actually a pretty manageable job.
Even with the camera mounted this way I would still use a leash I imagine. Do you?
The adhesive thing + a leash would be all right, except the adhesive didn't last more than a day and a half on snow. I wonder how it would manage in sea water?

Are you referring to your setup or the adhesive?

ChickenTikka wrote: Are you referring to your setup or the adhesive? My setup. Because the surface mount sticks out more on the side, or wherever you choose to mount it with adhesive, the elements have more of a chance of ripping it off your helmet. With my method you lessen the amount the camera sticks out by at least 15-20mm with the added advantage of it being a more secure/solid platform overall. A lower profile lessens the chance the elements have of ripping it off. Another reason I prefer the Contour to the Box, better form factor.

You reckon I risk snapping my neck putting a leash on it?
