Hey guys I am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a freshman at the University of Miami. I have been kiting since 2007. My progress has been very slow because I was only able to do it once a year (I'm from Georgia and only got to kitesurf when I went to Aruba for the summer), but I would consider myself an intermediate level kitesurfer.

Part two of the introduction... I've been riding a 9m Best Waroo since 2009 and it is time for me to get a new kite because it is very old, has a small hole that has been patched but the patch is starting to fail, and it does not hold its shape very well. The wind where I kite ranges from 12 to 18 knots. The specific beaches where I kite are Key Biscayne and South Beach in case you want to look it up on windguru. I've been looking at the Slingshot RPM (12m), the EPIC Screamer (12m), or the CrazyFly Sculp (11/13m). As for my board I currently ride a twin tip aBoard (133cm x 40cm). I weigh about 170 pounds and am 6 feet tall. Any advice on which kite to choose would be greatly appreciated or if you recommend another kite please feel free to suggest one. If you need any more info to help me make a decision please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks and I'm sure I'll enjoy my time on the KiteForum!

Unless you only go out when the wind is really blowing, I'd stay away from the 12m rpm down here. We get so many days where it's just barely kiteable, and the low end on that particular kite sucks. 14m would be ok if you want a really big kite but I'd personally look at something like a switchblade, envy, kahoona, or something like that just because they have really nice low end that you'll probably want if you're trying to get the most out of every session in south fl

good luck, hit me up if you ever come up a little farther north and are looking for people to kite with

Would you recommend the 12m or 15m Envy for South Florida?

my biggest kites are 12m and im 140-145 lbs, and ride a 137 influence with boots. im having fun in 10 knots on my switchblade, 11-12 knots im powered but going downwind on the 12m envy

just depends on your quiver really, for my weight id only be able to hold onto a 15 up to like 16 knots then i'd have to step down to a 12, and its not enough for a 9. 12/9 has been perfect for me for a 2 kite quiver down here

Okay thanks a lot. One more quick question... have you ever ridden a Slingshot Rally?
