Kitesurfing koh chang Thailand???

Postby frra » Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:28 pm

Hi

I'm going to koh chang for my freinds wedding in 2 weeks. Should i bring my surf gear. Can't really find anything on the Web about kitesurfing in koh chang.

Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know much about the area, but windguru tells me it doesn't look great..

Good luck :)

If you're based out of Langebaan then I'd skip bringing the kiting equipment. Thailand almost never has good wind like you do in SA. I'd wait until you get back there.

There are plenty of other things to do in Thailand aside from kite. I'd say its not worth bringing the equipment and I'm bettting you wouldn't have the right size kite regardless. If for some reason it blows hard (almost zero percent chance there) then just rent some equipment.

Being in Thailand few years ago for quite a few months I used once 9m, once 10m, the rest of time was either 12m or 15m kite. Skim board is a good thing to have over there.

I would say, that Thailand is great, but I wouldn't go there for kiting vacation. I would go to do whatever and kite if there are conditions.
