KiteHouse in Costa Rica

Postby edank » Sun Feb 12, 2012 3:13 am

Hi, I've been trying to reach the kitehouse in bahia salinas, Costa Rica to get some information about their place, and reserve a room for myself, but I can't seem to reach them by phone, and i've tried 2 different emails with no response.

Are they still active? is there a better way to reach them?

Hi Edank,

Kitehouse is definitely still running, I had friends check out of there yesterday and they loved it. Maybe try to find them on Facebook or something. It's Costa Rica man, my thought is that they are just being slow.

All three accommodations in Bahia Salinas are worth investigating, they are all great in their own way. My girlfriend and I stayed at Blue Dream Hotel and would stay there again. That being said next time we go we will try Kitehouse or Bob's Cometa Copal.

While there, you have to try Ulf's restaurant at Plaza Copal. They serve breakfast all day and have great lunches and dinners too. The pancakes and fruit are fantastic after a morning on the water. Bob's restaurant on the top of the hill is great too, especially on steak night. A pizza night at BlueDream is also worth a visit.

If you are looking to explore a little more, a one night trip to Nicaragua is well worth the experience. We did a self guided tour similar to the description on adventour.info

Have fun.

hey whabbits, thanks for the quick response,

at BlueDream, was there any option to buy food from a supermarket and keep it in a fridge or something? i'm kinda flying on a budget, and want to avoid having 3 meals at a restaurant.

What else can you tell me about BlueDream? Are the rides back and forth from the kiting beach ok, or did you feel kinda stuck on the beach?

thanks!

If you want to buy some of your own food, then Kitehouse and Cometa Copal (Bob's) are your only two options. BlueDream does not offer small fridges in the rooms so you have to buy three meals a day from restaurants.

Search Cometa Copal on Facebook. That's Bob. Sorry I do not know the folks at Kitehouse FB names.

The truck ride to the beach is fine and the walk back to the hotel is easy (20 minutes) we would often do it just to get a walk in.

I internet promise you that you will have a great time in Bahia Salinas if you go. There's a real community vibe there.

took a day, but they responded. I guess they're not online all day.

Anyone going to Bahia Salinas on Feb 22 by any chance?

Hi, I am going to CR next week, heading to Bahia Salinas as well. However, after some research on the forum on other websites I figured I should go to the blue dream hotel for a start. Will spend between 2 to 8 weeks there, so I might change my mind after a few days, no stress. cheers.

You will have a great time!

If either of you are leaving from the US and are able and willing to take 1-3 extra kites down with you, please let me know by PM.

When I was there a few weeks ago there were a couple of instructors looking to order kites and avoid import duties. I do not work for a kite company or anything like that.

no worries man, thanks for replying.
What I was picturing is putting the three kites in a big duffle bag and they pay for the extra bag fees.

You will love the Bahia Salinas area. If you are there for a bit go to Nicaragua. Kite Lake Nicaragua too if you can. Talk to Ulf at his restaurant at Plaza Copal regarding where to go there. Ulf is a great local resource.

As I mentioned above in this thread, go to all three local restaurants as they are all good and Ulf's is a good alternative to the Blue Dream beach lunches.

If you like dogs at all, you will fall in love with Sammy at Blue Dream.
