Surely if you can plane with an 18m in 5 knots, then a 13m will need less than 10 knots? It must be a very inefficient 13m kite and very efficient 18m kite?
Mathematically, the 13 should have 13/18 gives 28% less pull, with will actually be even less noticeable since a smaller kite is faster (normally) and hence can sweep more wind.
And isn't wind force proportional to wind speed squared. 10 knots have 400% more energy available than 5 knots per sq meter of kite sail I would think? This wind range table looks suspect?
I've tried the new RRD board due to my Royal board again is delayed ..
nice board, it has good finish. very stiff and impressively fast .. I like it
but I'll just have to try it with the right fins
should have your board soon I bet. already have the Royal boards in the bay area and heard yesterday the RRD boards will start rolling in in March. tons of fun ahead. should have a good mix of Mikes lab, Royal, RRD and NJS on the line this season. Vectors, Tectonics, Rista's.
Keep an eye on Mexico starting March 11 will have all these boards and fins represented there. Prob no NJS yet.
chris-these wind ranges are probably only a guide.my biggest is a 16,but i'd be happy with a 13 as my smallest, and could still have fun in sub 10 knots.
disappointed, theirs no front strap in the new 2012 boards, for when its really light and you can't get on the rail.
