Honest --- i feel Bad for insulting those of you who couldn't understand why Jan would
attempt such a crossing.

He's made from Different Stuff Inside than most ; like The essence of a Fierce Warrior.
& after his adrenaline subsides, he'll feel unrest inside. And then :
He'll be trying something like this again !!
I Wish i was strong enough to join him "When" he does ; but i'm not !!

His wife is reporting that he is going to be OK. He doesn't appear to have any injuries except he couldn't speak because of dehydration but was responding to everything. His wife sounds like one hell of a woman. His daughter kitesurfs too. They expect him to continue in his adventures and will support him all the way.

He spoke.....He was being attacted by sharks he counted eleven during last night he was on the top of the kite which saved him. He was fighting them back... what a horror.

I'm very glad he is ok. I would hope that "supporting him" involves the use of a support boat and group of people who agree to be involved. Maybe there are some lessons to be learned from the experience, one of which might come from reevaluating the role of individual responsibility in planning an adventure.

I hope he goes on to (responsibly) enjoy many more great adventures.

What boat? We are talking 200km crossing. Maybe a ship? You want to chip in? Think before you speak.

He was well prepared was he! Just like the support vessel he had arranged to tail him Prepared for sharks etc...

Face it , done on the cheap.

Respect? What like the respect required tying up umpteen vessels in the area etc. etc...

Good for him that he made it with a sunburn etc. But the fact is he is a fool.

To those who think they would have done it better, please show us. To those who state he should not even attempt such a foolish thing please book yourself a trip on Costa Concordia where you can have a drink, loose your money at the casino, listen to some cheese show while a Italian captain puts you gently to the bottom of the ocean, it's all about choices.
