Cabrinha Skillet 5'6"

Postby airsail » Fri Mar 16, 2012 8:17 am

I have the opportunity to buy a Cabrinha Skillet 5'6", either the 2011 wood deck version or the 2012 cork deck version for the same price. I suspect the wood deck may be more durable, though the straps, pads and fins seem better on the cork deck model.
Does anyone have any experience with either boards?
Thanks

i have the 2011. its quite strong, but very stiff, pads are ok, never tried the straps. fins are ok for bump and jump, but most of the time i use f3´s as sides and stock one as center, also used it as a twin for a while. overall it´s a really fun board .
if youre going to make lots of high jumps i would probably go for the 2011 for durability, otherwise i´d take the new one just in case it´s a little less stiff. could be the new one is as strong as the 11 but i dont hink so. the 2012 is also a little bit more narrow if i remember right.

If you get the 2011 for the same price as the 2012 they tip you off! :)

Hi all,

Looking at the 2013 Skillit the strapped model now has bamboo laid over the eco-cork deck, so can anyone comment on how the 2012 Skillit with the eco-cork deck held up .

The skillit is an amazing board and has great durability. I have ridden both 2011 and 2012 and demo the new models as well. Cabrinha surf board are good stuff, quality is top notch. I'd go for the 2012 if i were you. Have fun.

So is the skillet a good all around board for mushy big waves, side side on.

Without question the 2012 is better than the 2011.

The 2011 was a bit too stiff and was a tad bit heavier.

The 2012 has a really great feel to it and the .5lb difference is noticeable to me.

HAVE FUN WITH IT!
