Out of several angles and positions that I have tried to take photos and movies with the Gopro camera, I have found out that the most attractive angle is achieved by using a pole connected to a backpack. This way you can shoot yourself, the boards and the surrounding.
See the following movie as an example although it contains no real action, just to demonstrate the angle.
http://vimeo.com/39364911

This movie was taken with DIY kit that don’t have too much flexibilities (in terms of camera position and angles, but is very rigid and has good stability).
We have an idea how to make such a mount that will be flexible in position, rigid for stable shooting and easy to operate and kite with (as well as ski/snowboard, bike, etc).
I would like to know if you see a real need for off-the-shelve product like this and will you consider purchasing one if it would be attractive and reasonably priced.
Your feedback and any desires in such a product would be appreciated
Many thanks

If you could make it cheap enough and good enough maybe, but they are not that difficult to make.

Same here. I'd buy one at reasonable price (under $100), and sturdy, reliable construction.

Go to kickstarter and create a project and see how many people actually prepurchase them. That is the best way to test to see if your product will get traction. I would buy it, would be even better with a servo motor to keep the camera level.

You would have to consider the other groups you could sell to.

Windsurfers are starting to use them, and there would be others as well.
You can see the mounting in the first video is not rigid enough.

Great video angle. Looks pretty secure too.
Any chance you could explain how its made or a picture of the mount outside the backpack. Understand you are planning on a comercial application but promise you im not trying to stel your idea. Yours is the best angle Ive seen yet for kitesurfing and most secure looking mount and Im trying to make my own at the moment.

Cheers,
Owen

I personally would like something that can strap on to the back of a waist harness, so that I don't have to wear an additional item. Also if the arm were to be telescopic like a tripod leg, that would make it small enough to travel with. I'd buy one when it's done!
