and not that imitation Cheap Crap from ... !!

The way to tell is bring a magnet with Ya when you purchase it ;
real SS won't be affected by it.

Look for EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) material or higher.

In the USA, they sell this Crap SH*T from Chi**, & try to pass it for SS.
It will NOT hold-up in salt water & your gonna see a rusty stain after a
short while.

I'm saying : "bring a magnet with Ya & see if it affects the sellers product ;
if it's a Good grade of SS, the magnet will NOT affect it.

I have a bag of 1/4-20 T-nuts, that a magnet will do nothing to.

Sweet, I may have to look online as teh local Bolt Supply doesn't carry them. Also waiting on fins and just ordered the pads and straps today.

T-nuts are fine.
but if you can't find any locally, i'm sure there are other solutions.

remember, this is plywood and your 2 hours are up.

if your willing to poke a hole thru the board for a t-nut , a flat head screw countersunk from the bottom will work as well.

#10, stainless, with nuts and washers will be easy to find.

most hardware store also sell threaded inserts made from brass that can be screwed into the top side of the board .

but if time is short, you can get galvanized deck screws by the pound from just about anywhere.

did i mention this board is plywood?

Hahaha, not really sure why I didn't think of that. That will likely be the route I go. Like you said, it's plywood.

Brass is the good stuff if you can find it. Expensive but strong and no rust.

I'll sound off and say you can also use threaded stainless steel stand offs. This will be the closest you come to proper inserts just cut to size and your done. I used snowboard inserts bought from www.snowboardmaterials.com T-nuts although they do work the coarse thread doesn't give you much bite and most of them will corrode over time depending on what material they are made of which is usually a plated mild steel.

I suppose it also depends how mush effort/cash you want to put into the project. Weigh your options.

Hey Guys, sorry for taking so long to give an update. I was waiting for parts, got busy and blah blah blah. Anyway I also made a board for my girlfriends birthday and so I'll throw the pics up while I'm finishing up my board. I am definitely building a rocker table for the next board. I also used West Systems 207 Epoxy to cover the boards. It was really nice to work with and I am pretty happy with the results.
