Hi Guys,
I bought a very cheap flight to Kos from Friday 13th to 20th of April.
Unfortunately my friend won't be able to come so I'll be alone.
I have seen the forecast and the wind will blow very strong. I fear to be alone in the beach and it will be a mess...a lot of wind and noone to lift my kite so I'm wondering if someone of you will be in Kos during my same period.

Kos is a nice place to kite but the problem is that the best winds are from June to August which is called "MELTEMI" winds. But you might get some good fronts coming down since it got cold again in Athens.
Have a great trip in Greece, and since you are in Kos, maybe take a trip to Rhodos because Rhodos will be way better for the winds and more people to kite with. The only problem with Greece right now except our economy is that April is not a good month for tourism so you won't see lots of people in the Islands right now.

Yup, local people do kite in Kos. Google Big Blue Surf Center in Kos, the guy who owns it runs kiting lessons from May onwards and he can tell you over the phone / email / FB where the local kiters gather for each particular wind direction. Once you have the name of the beach and the time that they tend to gather, you 're ready to go! BTW, you 're lucky in that there will be wind, this is not a good time of the year for wind, as Dimitri pointed out. But no need to come to Rhodes (although you 're very welcome to come, PM me if you do, I will direct you to where kiting happens here )

So Mr.Ned Divine are you from Rhodos? The reason I am asking this is because I did my Greek military service in Rhodos.

Yes, Rhodes is the place! My father was an officer in the military until a few years ago so you might as well have been under his commands for a while!

Yes the officer who was in charge of the base I was in was a very nice man. I was able to go windsurfing every time there was wind for 2 hrs in Prasonisi, since my base was only 30 minutes from Prasonisi, but that was 17 years ago.
Any way I have lots of uncles and cousins in Rhodos, some of them owns Hotels and Restaurants in Rhodos, I need to go back.

Ah, not him! He left the army far too early for the year that you served! You are much younger than you should for him to have been your officer! Plus, he never served that close to Prasonisi! Never mind, good try! Do come to Rhodos, it is still very beautiful and the meltemi is here every day from mid-June to mid-August!
