james wrote: having flown it at the weekend it isn't anything like the Fat lady, what were the areas you thought were similar, we can get one of our demo kites over to your neck of the woods if you want to do a compare and contrast? The areas that I was referring to were thinner LE and struts, and the reduced weight as I found that the 2011 didn't behave as well as a fat lady under extreme lulls or slack line situations, and i felt that it didn't move as fast through the air as the fat one, It would be good to test the new back to back. How is its upwind performance? this is my only slight criticism of the fat lady but that could be rectified by a different board which I am trying to avoid. Ps. Did you find any of those stoppers?

Agreed, upwind of the Fat Lady is not that good.

Great to see the resurgence of interest in low wind kites. Very curious to hear other review and opinions as to which kite will rule the low wind inflatable kite category in 2012. Turbine, Fat Lady, Infinity, etc.
Anyone tried them all?

Turbine, Fat Lady, Infinity, etc.... why do everybody keep confusing lite wind kites with the race kites all the time? and why do kite manufacturers not explain the difference? well, because none of the kite brands make both types, i guess. and each of them want customer interested in the either type to by their product. it is clear that zephyr, fat lady and infinity are not race kites. and it is clear that dyno, turbine, nitro16R, edge17 aren't lite wind kites. you can not win the race contest with the zephyr, fat lady and infinity. and if your weight is over 200lb you can not ride successfully upwind with dyno, turbine, nitro16R, edge17 in lite winds without some huge raceboard. so please, make an effort to explain the difference. it would be honest thing to do and will prevent the bitter comments and negative reviews in the future

Quote: it is clear that zephyr, fat lady and infinity are not race kites. and it is clear that dyno, turbine, nitro16R, edge17 aren't lite wind kites. Slingshot appears to be marketing the Turbine as a light wind kite.. "The bottom line is this kite increases your riding time and gets you off the beach when there’s not a whitecap in sight. " So what is it that differentiates a light wind kite for free ride from a light wind kite for racing? Is it just marketing or are there differences in physical properties and flying characteristics? How do you tell if one kite is designed for race or free riding in light wind? Curious to learn.
