All right, here's a short summary for those who don't want to go to click on the link and watch the promo video:
It is a request for money from Adam Boozer and Tim Tewell to produce a "legit documentary" that "shows the state of kiteboarding today". They will do so by filming the 2012 Triple - S Invitational in Cape Hatteras, NC, because (quoting from the Triple-S riders in the promotional) "Triple-S has made kiteboarding what it is today" and "what we have all done needs to be put on film". Then there's the standard complaints about how wakeboarders don't take the pro kiters seriously and how the world needs to start seeing kiteboarding as "legit".
So, therefore, they (the riders, mostly) are asking people to donate at least $50,000 so that Adam and Tim can make a film promoting the sport (and, I guess incidentally, the riders themselves).
Well, all right. To each their own. If you feel that this would be a great use of your money, by all means go and donate.

Still, haven't we heard that kind of complaints for years and years ("we do this for the love of the sport, whether there are spectators or not" and in the next breath "why don't wakeboarders think we're legit??"). Come on, where is this obsession with " being legit" coming from?? Do your thing, by all means make movies and videos and what not, but drop the thing about having the world see you as "being legit". Be legit in your own mind and stop caring about what other people think. As for the riders and filmmakers, I hope they have a great time and that the movie turns out great, just tone down that legit, legit, legit talk...

Most people I've told that I kiteboard don't even know what it is, and can't even comprehend what I'm saying when I try to explain it. The people who do know what it is, have only seen youtube videos of kooks getting lofted or thrown into buildings. Hardly anyone understands the true potential of this sport. We can do almost all wakeboarding tricks, except we can drive the boat by ourselves while riding. We can do massive airs. We can achieve speeds that only multi-million dollar speed sailing vessels could before. It's not like kiteboarders have something to prove, as you seem to think, but showing people what the sport is capable of, and that it can be taken to a level that should be taken seriously like any other extreme sport...

They will not speak for the sport in general, only a part of the sport. Be real...there are way more guys on surfboards now than passing the bar.
But will be good to have a nice video of the SSS !

There have been lots of movies and videos that show people what kiting is all about for years. I dont think spending 50+ grand to film the triple s is going to make kiting any more "legit" than it already is. Are they going to capture some ultra "legit" move that no one has filmed before? Like maybe a handle pass, over and over and over and over and over and over again.

"there are way more guys on surfboards now than passing the bar."
Maybe, for sure a huge transition to surfboards here to, but there are still plenty of places on planet earth where there are no worthwhile waves but wind and water and it will always stay that way.
i declared the end of freestyle kiteboarding yesterday on my facebook so sorry folks that's it - it's all over - official (I am sanctioned by the ISAF the governing body of kitesurfing lol).
This is a good way to get projects going i reckon, can we pay for some way to make kitesurfing less popular - like fund another sup movie.
