going to be in italy at the end of may, wind archives show it blows to 20 every day. There isnt much recent information on ostia lido or other venues. Does anyone have updated info on where to go? Not sure Ill bring equipment so can I rent?

20 everyday? I live in ostia lido ,never had that wind .
more or less I go out once a week in may ,sometime twice, someother every 10 days.
maybe they refer to Campo di mare about 40 km north of rome with termal wind 3 4 times aweek.
when in ostia is 10 12 knots out there is 18 20 ,it works with north wind only ,choppy water, from 1 pm on.
you need a car ,nearly impossible by public transport.do not know for renting ,better you bring your stuff.
if you come with car have a look to Talamone ,also termal from north wind around 20 24 knots 2 hours north of rome( tuscany west coast) , very flat water.do not expect nice waves in italy.
if you stop in venice better going for monuments couple of days then move away
ciao

I Live in Rome, well...20 days in average it's definitively not true…
:( :( :(
I do confirm what Piccio said. Also, I recommend to bring your own equipment, as I haven’t heard of rental facilities nearby.
Car it’s a must and ensure you’re going out at an authorized beach.

Once you’ll get here, based on wind condition, we’d be able to better drive you on the spot.
Mostly used sizes are 12 and 9m, sometimes we’re lucky and it’s a 7m day.

See ya !

there are a few kitesurf schools that have freestyle/advanced lessons. kiteam ostia and kitesurf ostia. Does anyone have any info on these places? It looks like kiteam ostia can be reached directly from the roma-lido line. The wind looks like it could be up over the next few weeks (i.e 20 knots today?)

the latest two weeks have been good, because of afternoon termical winds :thumb:
today we have 21 up 31 knts side on, :o but this is quite unusual.
You can get to Ostia by the commuter train, then 10 min drive with the bus to reach the beach.
contact them at http://www.kitesurfostia.it/
should you need further info, let me know.
Ciao

Is kiteam ostia an actual school? The italian translation seemed to say that it is.

It is reachable directly from the rome-lido train. Google maps says they are 500 meters from the cristoforo columbo station (last station on the rome-lido line)
