my guess is someone in Audi's marketing department is going to be looking for a new job soon. targeting the 'huge' audience of female kitesurfers (the only availabe color is yellow, which is pretty much exclusively feminine) doesn't sound smart. even if other colors were available, targeting kitesurfers specifically probably isn't the best path a car company could take.

give us an SUV that gets over 40 mpg and can carry all our gear (including bigger surfboards) and handle all the sand inside and out easily....now that would be interesting to many including kiters, windsurfers, surfers, SUPers ,etc.

Actually if you read the article, the car is being marketed to the Chinese market. Their color preferences are very much different to the west, being gold/yellow and red having an important meaning for them. Cant remember the exact symbolism, but is considered by many as the most beautiful and important. Also the Chinese market is huge, so I don't think the person in charge will be out of a job soon.

But I agree with western taste, the color is considered by many as you say feminine ;-)

Made it to production? Looked good as well.
