Interesting, thanks ...

Still waiting on the relaunch and range reports :)

I have no personal data on relaunch and probably will not
I can't even recall the last time i got a kite wet and had to relaunch
I suspect easy relaunch because of delta shape, thin leading edge and very lightweight kite
Core Kiteboarding do claim "auto relaunch"
As far as low end wind speed to relaunch it depends on so many variables so take your best guess

Range the RIOT XR2 19M for 75kg skilled rider (me) for different type conditions and boards
From 6 knots to 18 knots as per Core (my low in ocean on surfboard is 7.5 knots)

Range for SP3 21M with same everything is 5 knots to 17 knots (my low in ocean was 6.5 knots)
Those low ends were both with 3m extensions
Core: 24+3=27m
Flysurfer: 21+3+bridle (about 4.5m)=about 28.5m

As far as top end i did not try but i think that at 18 knots would be my max
I did take the 21M to 17 knots and it was my max

You are too kind and gracious yourself but i do detect a tiny tiny bit of sarcasm

Talking about "sarcasm"
My session late afternoon yesterday on the XR2 19 was in an ocean covered in "Sargassum" weed
Wind 10 knots side onshore on my Whip quad fins
Good thing i had straps so i could hop easily to get air and clean the weeds off fins constantly
FUN...FUN...FUN... :thumb: :surf: :sun:

P.S. and oh right.........i do pay for the kites :cash: :cash: :)

How much wind can it take? What is your weight?
How is the lift and hangtime?

Hello Toby how are you?
Thanks for looking in and the questions

An expert of high wind / big kite like you are (around 200lbs?) could probably take a lot of wind
Core windrange( 75kg skilled rider) 6 to 18 knots

For you (expert) 8) the Dyno 18M in hot climate and small twin tip you ride in 20-25knots :thumb:
When we look at North recommended range you far exceed it (5 to 15 knots skilled 75kg rider)

I have the average weight that kite companies around the world like to use as baseline:75kg!!
I have not taken the XR2 19 in over 12 knots yet (but will soon)XR2 17 was out in 16 knots (easy)
It does downloop and kiteloop very very easy and smooth (spins on a dime) in the lower windrange

I think the lift will be close to Dyno18 but i think Dyno with it's high aspect will have more hangtime

Hope this helps you :D

Hello Hello Doctor LW from southern east coast Florida
This is Supa often referred as Master LW (by my co-kiters) in central east coast Florida
How are you doing today?

The 17M you tried was Riot XR2 or XR (first generation)?
I believe the new XR2 has lot more depower capability
When you got overpowered how much wind were there + where and what were you riding ?
I think i remember that you are lightweight (135lbs?)
My wife at 110lbs on the XR2 17M is not yet out of control in wind of 15mph but close to her limit

Those you saw having trouble relaunching in 8-9 mph just need to practice more i guess
Maybe there was other circumstances that you were unaware of during their failed attempts

Sorry to respond so late,
but I've been out with my "cable park" yesterday after work till dark in a 10 to 12 mph winds
and today in a supa-light winds less than 10 and afterwords waiting for the supe-moon.
So as you hear me I prefer rather spending more time out there playing with the elements
than surfing here on the forum :D
To respond to your questions I tried the first generation XR.
I was overpowered on my directional 149 X 40 around 15 mph with fully depowered,
so I told the owner something had to be wrong with the set-up.
Turned out the front lines were stretched out and haven't tried since,
but the owner told me the up-wind is so much better since the front & rear lines are even.
And yes I'm light 130 lbs and made only one mistake 4 weeks ago.
I dropped my "cable park" to the soup once in one year,
so the jaws were dropping also at the shore
because the reverse re-launch was supa easy and supa fast. :thumb:
They thought I won't be able to relaunch that big foil kite.

For the last 2 weeks, we've had good wind but after a while, it's fallen away to literally NOTHING ... kites have gotten wet for sure! Kiting has turned into swimming and boat rides :o Light wind relaunch is important ... as is upper range - cos sometimes the wind picks up :o
Be nice to get a run on one of these big modern tubes too ...

Sorry, tried th core 17 VS Ozone Zaphyr 17 and felt better fun factor with the Zaphyr.
The low end was the same riding a Xenon La-luz 138/42 in about 9 K .
The air time, if it can be messured in those winds was very similar with bit better for Zaphyr, i like the Ozone bar better but the most important fact was the speed- which was faster with the Zaphyr.
Did not had to relounch any of the 2...
But indeed the core 17 is the closest competitor to the Zaphyr and i tried a lot of the big inflatable kites.
I do not compare it to foils or other sizes of inflatable, and above all- the bottom line IMO is the fun factor- if i can ride in 7 K but i do not enjoy, i rather not...

Cheers
