One really awesome move - as it "feels good", is to do a "500 forward aerial bottom turn with downloop to cutback" 8)

You ride down the waveface, and instead of a normal bottom turn, you make a jump and almost 1½ forward rotation when in the air (and with tailgrab if you want), while you downloop the kite around and land toeside facing up the waveface - and you can do a regular cutback now :thumb:

WHY does it feel so good ? (beside being able to do it of course - but that goes for many freestyle moves too).

Because, you dont miss a good wave - you just make it EVEN better !
Your lines will be untwisted because of the simultaneous downloop and rotation !
You can make the tailgrab easy and natural, as you almost dont need your backhand for this whole maneuver - even the cutback dont need the backhand, so only for the initial takeoff to the jump, you need your backhand on the bar - and then no more :naughty:

You can just practice on flat water both ways, where it is easy to do and not as timing critical as in good waves

This, to my knowledge, "not yet named" maneuver is my latest favourite move in waves - love it 8)

Also, if the waves are "bunk" and maybe small - it can bring up the excitement and fun again.

Many other fun tricks - but I particular like this one.

:D PF

ah nice PF, I never even thought about doing that while riding waves from a bottom turn. good call.

..OP if you pull the trigger a little early on this you'll land with a lot of speed going right back into the wave.

..oh and if you pull the trigger too early you'll come down hard :-)

Yes PF this is my bread and butter move too and favorite

You come out clean with "zero line twist" (feels real natural) Forward 1.5 downloop to toeside
I also like it going out towards an approching wave face and land toeside on it (a bit more risky)

Also i like to do a supa high "inverted table top"with downloop to full plane on toeside
Either as a bottow turn style approach or again done towards an approching face to toeside
Or course this last described move has 1 line twist coming out of it
Easy to unspin (spin the lines following the same way your downloop was done)
Easy way to remember is the way you spin the bar after that loop is way the lines need to spin

An other good feeling move is single backroll with downloop to toeside ( but 2 line twists)
After move spin bar twice in the direction your downloop was done & untwist lines twice the same
Again as bottom turn approach or towards approching wave face to toeside

I like also to kiteloop it when the conditions are safe not to get hurt
Hit a wave face to jump high & keep kite at 12 then as you come down send a tight kiteloop
Focus on your floating in the air and spot the landing off the wind with controlled speed heelside

This next move is non aerial but is real smooth snappy fun
The 180 tail first pivot to toeside jibe with both feet in straps is quick way to turn w/o losing ground
You can come in really shallow water to "pivot jibe in reverse since you 180 fins first" to toeside
The fun part is to ride and hold it in reverse for about 2-3 seconds then pivot on a dime to toeside

There is so many more moves that other kiters on directionals will share
Those are the ones that i do succesfully (conditions permitting)
Pick the right conditions....wind strength .....wave size....type of wind and have FUN :D

must be. strap your feet and free your mind :jump:

are there any inspirational videos on this type of riding? just getting into this type of riding due to shoulder injury and would like to see what people around the world are up to?

otherwise the waveriding scene seems to be rolling in the surf imitating direction with all the videos lately being the slow`n` smooth strapless style instead of power, air & speed.
