when you do the downloop before landing, do you get the usual power surge from a loop? i assume you do...
when im super super powered (35 knots on a 9m switchblade.... i'm light) i always end up jumping under the kite if I get really high, or if i cant edge hard enough and get a lot of forward momentum
a lot of the time I don't really want to transition so I've just been doing a small kiteloop before I land to get the kite back in front of me, and after falling so hard that I pretty much bounced off the water the other day, I don't think I'm going to try this any more lol.

Fish pole that bar! if you don't yourl end up doing a megaloop and get down pulled wind at 100mph or smashing the kite into the deck.

Seems I've been doing the downloop jump transition for a while now without realizing it ... started doing it when the wind was light and I was landing without enough forward speed to keep riding - problem is, there's so much pull down-wind that you lose a lot of ground and have to work hard to get it back. I've been thinking about helicopter-loops for when I over-fly the kite ... Armin does a couple in this vid around 1:10 ... and then a whole bunch more. http://vimeo.com/13935335But lately, jumps have clicked and just "regular" landings all work fine ...

hey kamuzuka.
Loop tighter!, then you wont get the down wind yank. Also loop earlier.
I'm loven looping. its just lots of fun and more dynamic than your none looped moves.

You mean downloop as far as the new direction or the old direction? To put it differently, when you start riding after your transition do you have two twists of the lines or no twists? Thanks! (I am currently trying the front loop transition and have some problems getting going to the new direction, I frequently have no momentum, having said that, I try it in low-ish wind)

I use the down-loop to keep the kite pulling - when I've landed a light-wind jump and I think the kite is not going to have the power to pull me if I try to turn it back up ... using the loop keeps the kite moving - usually through the powerzone, which is why I get pulled down wind So the lines only have one twist in them. Landing toe-side or directly down-wind, ready to carve once the kite has changed direction, keeps it all tight. Need a day under-powered on a smaller kite to try tighter loops

Hey Kami, thanks, but I am wondering about the front roll downloop transition, does he loop the kite with the old front hand or with the new front hand?
