I'm interested in some feedback on this video. You've seen me post lots of snowkite stuff before and I'm starting to move into film. This is one of my first edits. I was hoping to make an unatractive location in the middle of Idaho farmlands as interesting as I could. I've learned alot about filming and editing techniques from my friends Wayne and Pascal. I've also watched lots of youtube and vimeo how to videos. All filmed on the Canon 60D.

3min long...

Thanks,
Will

great video, I watched the whole thing. I like the idea of crappy lakes in the middle of the USA.

good points, short intro, but also really interesting
great shots of big air
Location is not the same old tropical paradise
Liked the music - laid back.
Liked to the whole concept, would love to see more of these in the midwest.

I appreciate that. It's hard to tell what something really looks like when you've been working on it for hours. Hearing my own voice is a trip too.

Thanks!

Like your snowkite vids, flying around above those mountains... great !! :thumb:

In this video i miss the gopro footage to have some overview of the lake and just for another point of view, it will give you the feel you are there too for a moment as a viewer.

How good the 2012 C4 is, they are amazing and i would say this is a kite you have to try before you buy another brand :thumb: :D

My friends Wayne and Pascal are the guys who make the snowkiting videos and are the reason I want to start making some films. I've been down on GoPro footage just because so many people abuse that first person perspective, but I really do see your point of adding a quick first person view here and there for a "feel." And now after trying to film with a DSLR I could really appreciate getting footage with a small indestructable camera. I see a GoPro in my future.

I really do like the 2012 C4 as well. That's the 3rd day on mine in that video and I really do love it.

That's a really fun video. Watched it twice and I don't miss the go pro footage at all. It reminds me of kiting in eastern Montana. No scene, just lots of wind, a few friends and a dog or two. I liked seeing some one else on a Xenon Infra as well. I love mine. Nice work and keep it coming.

Very nice video Will. I watched it a few times now.

You did a great job putting everything together. Fluid video without a lot of filler garbage. Cool narrative at the beginning and that music is so chill.

Keep them coming, look forward to seeing more from you.

As a fellow videographer, I just wanted to pass along my kudos for a job well done. Very fluid, nice use of your perspective through the introduction, and great shots. A second option for the small, indestructible camera might be the Canon D10. Not a POV camera, but great for shooting video (cheaply) in the water, and getting up close and personal with the action. Keep up the great work - you have a future in this!

Nice job on the clip! I like the shooting, editing, score and narration. Question, what winds don't you typically ride the lake in, out of the east?

Thanks for the beta guys! I was hoping to keep it entertaining without overhead waves, and mobe 7's.

Dobiewan, I'm going to look into that D10. I like that idea quite a bit.

Rickl, we ride SW wind. If you look at the forecast for tomorrow you'll see a pretty good set up, and you'll notice a pretty even flow right up the snake river plain if you look here http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/pih.php and tab to the windspeed for 12pm tomorrow.
