At 57 , damn near broke a hip recently kite buggying , my response was to add more padding to my hip and butt pads. There are elements of skill and thrill in kiting that are innate passions in some people that don't just evaporate at a certain age. In reading the other articles associated with the piece , I'm guessing that nay sayers ,not having experience with skill and thrill , just can't comprehend the appeal these types of sports have. Oh almost forgot , the fun factor is gianormous!.

Oldest guy in our spot is probably mid 70's...
I started kitesurfing about 4-5 years ago and will be 50 in June. Did the IKO ITC a couple of months ago so am hoping to eventually sail off into a semi-retirement where I can continue learning but also pass on the love a bring in a little bit of the readies to pay for kit and the odd beer or two...
Hey Piccio - I started at 45 too, now 50. spent the last year and a half recovering from 2 broken legs. I WILL go out again this summer. I WILL keep jumping. I WILL kite until I can't stand. As the WHO said - "HOPE I DIE BEFORE I GET OLD" As long as I'm kiting - won't be old
I'm 51 now, and been kiting for about 10 years. You don't stop playing because you got old, you get old because you stopped playing!! Gotta stay young so I can walk my two year old daughter down the aisle when she's ready. All the best! Ken

Bille. Your alluminium legs offend me!! For gods sake laminate up some fruity carbon replacments!.
The "Sick" part on that : I did some Mods to my 13M Edge ; but broke my leg & can't do squat but stand, so never got to try them till i finish my next pair of prosthetics.
So Here's what i'll do there --plummet-- I'll make carbon legs with Terminator looking feet, that scare the children & make dogs Run in FEAR ; Then take a shot of them on a Kite Board !!!
Hi Ned and Faber yust to make you happy! I started kite at 45, eleven years ago (so now I'm 56) . I still enyoy it . yust ordered 5 rebel and Wam 5.8 ,do not miss any session . my brother 53 and older kiter of my spot is 60 ,we all go out.yust like windsurfing when I was windsurfing at 20. so you have plenty of time yet !!!!!!!!!!!! the only thing that is changed is my wife ,yust not like when she was 18 . HI!
