2012 Ozone Frenzy vs. HQ Montana 7

Postby Cullen » Fri May 11, 2012 12:22 am

Hi everyone,
I am looking to get a foil kite for Snowkiting / Landboarding / Skidding / Flying and am thinking of getting either the 2012 Ozone Frenzy or the HQ Montana 7. I know they are very similar but right now am leaning towards the Frenzy because of the bar and safety system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

For snowkiting/landkinting Go for the frenzy, no doubt :thumb: . The frenzy is far away better that the Montana, better performance, better construction, better materials, better quality, better safety.....
if you tell us a bit more about your usual wind conditions and your weight we could recommend you what kite size will suit you better, a 7 sounds little...

I use a 11m 2012 frenzy from 10knt to 25knt even up to more if it's not gusty, I weight 78kg.

Hope it helps

Cheers,

Hi Kite-D,
Thanks for replying so quickly!! When I said "Montana 7 I was talking about the kite model!! But it would be nice to talk about kite size too. I weigh 100 lbs, or 45 kg and the wind here is a pretty big range, but i'll try describing it anyway. I live in Madison, Wisconsin, USA and the winds on a day that I'ld be flying it in probably range from about 10 knots to 25 knots and possibly up to 30 at the most.( Big range of wind!! )
Also if anyone has any suggestions for a landboard, that would be great. I am 5'4 and as I said before 100 lbs, or 45 kg. Right now I am thinking of getting either the scrub GLD or Psycho.
Thanks!!

Hi,
Here in Madison we get some days when it gets pretty windy ( 30mph gusting to 35+ approximately). Would the 7m be to much then?

Hi,

Yeah, you're light, so for one-kite quiver a frenzy 7m or 9m will do it, it really depends in how gusty it is and if it's closer to 25/30 or to 10/25 knots. For the days touching +35 you'll need a smaller kite, and unless you have a good riding level, better stay at home spotting kiteforum :thumb: .

If you wanna talk about land boards, Trampa is defenetly "the board". Fully customizable: length, flex, trucks, bindings, wheels.... And sure you won't brake the board!

Thanks for the tip Kite-D,
I looked at trampas website, WOW! :o They have a lot of boards! does anybody have any suggestions on how to find one that is right for me? Should I just try to contact Trampa directly?
I am right now thinking that a 7m kite would be the right size. :thumb:
Thanks!!

Ok,

Tell me your weight, hight, riding style, level, firm or flexi board, and any other preference....

With a frenzy&trampa combo you not loose :thumb:

Hi Kite-D,
I am 97 lbs, 5'3, freeride/freestyle, I don't know if I would want a firm or flexible board because this is my first land board... probably either ratchet or hybrid bindings but not sure.
Thanks!!

For flying use Ozone Element 2, for your weight you should probably go with XS or even XXS. Talk to your instructor before deciding:

Flying with Frenzy :nono: is for people who are bored out of their life and want to collide with earth at great speeds .

Hi Cray,
Whoops! I think we had a miscommunication!! I meant flying the kite, not flying WITH the kite  !!
Thanks for replying anyway!
