I have kited any time of the day and night theres wind. Though my night session are land based.

Typically in summer the sea breaze is the strongest 2-5 so thats when i'll aim to kite.

I too stay out of the suns way when abroad or cover up very well.

I think there will be a lot of cases of macular degeneration/cancers in the years to come from this
game if they arent starting to show already.

At home.... we dont get the sun! I heard it came out for a few minutes some years ago! Everybody in the city turned bright red!

Between 12 and 16 is the best time regarding sea breeze, but this is rare as we have typically much more wind here.

But if the wind (in theory) were constant all day, and you had vacation or weekend - we would definitely go out at the same period, between 12 and 16 :thumb:

Because it is warmer, and your body is most "fit" at that time of the day.

Especially at wintertime, there is really no discussion - you can ONLY go out between 12 and 15 because it is freezing too much before noon, and it gets dark after 15 :o

In the summer we can get many hours - as there is light from 4 in the morning till 23 in the evening, so you have almost 20 hours you can go kiting every day
(okay, up in Norway they got 24 hours light - so even better)

But even in the summer, it is most pleasant to be out early afternoon when it is okay warm and you dont need a thick suit :naughty:

So up here in the Northern hemisphere in Scandinavia the UV problem is not an issue - other more important factors dominate 8)

Noone wears sunglasses on the water here - it is stories from other countries

So no - sun is not a problem at all here, but when travelling to warmer locations closer to the equator you dont wanna be out too much from 12 to 16, but before and after - AND wear sunglasses on land

I know quite a few kitesurfers that go out after the big orange
ball in the sky has gone down. Maybe they are vampire kiters
that can only go in the dark?

Depends on your location...

But here, in wintertime - you can kite half an hour to max three quarters after the sun has set.

And when it is summer - hmmm, you could sometimes kite all night after sunset - but you can definitely kite more than one hour after, without getting too dark :thumb:

That is the good thing about the northern hemisphere - it doesnt get dark all of a sudden - it takes a loooong time, so sunset is never the "end of the session" :naughty:
