Kiteracing could be fun to watch if they add all the tech on the riders....but yeah I can see there are more fun sports to watch...that said, there is a whole friggin channel dedicated to golf in this country so go figure.

It is better than windsurfing to watch cos you can see clearly who is who from a long way away, olympic windsurf racing being a little bit better that watching paint dry (well china olympics anyway..)

Think about it

Are you really really sure you (we) want more people starting out kitesurfing ??

More people starting to kiteboard isn't about me (or us). It's about them, and their enjoyment.

Just like when I started kiteboarding. I started for my benefit, not for those who were already kiteboarding.

I'm dismayed by the number of posters who seem to represent a rather selfish perspective on sharing this amazing world and the good things in it.

Cheers,
James

This thread isn't about selfishness it is about responsibility and that the IKA's pitch to ISAF/Olympics and those intersted in getting into the sport (including youth with parents helping them out) was not honest and responsible in my view.

Storm in a tea cup me thinks
A bit like Y2K :baby:

Does anyone know of any sport that has been introduced into the olympics in the last 50 years where the existing participants in said sport have been adversly affect to the point they can no longer enjoy their chosen sport?

Plenty of sports have fought long and hard to leave the olympics.

Baseball fought for over 100 years to get out of the olympics, they finally were able to do it for 2016 in Rio.

Baseball never liked how the olympics would be on right in the middle of american baseball season, of how other teams would say they were the best in the world instead of the world series being the best in the world, MLB hated the petty olympic politics, they hated how the olympic games did not follow MLB rules

Golf had the same sort of issues they didn't like how the olympics would detract from their main circuit of tournaments, but it will be back for 2016 over the objections of pro golfers.

Most sports of course love the olympics gives them a chance to rebrand their product as wholesome instead of thuggish

Sad but true. That also goes for showing poker on the sports channel .... WTF

Good point about tech. I really enjoy F1 racing and their in cockpit camera views for sure enhanced the viewing experience.

the race format I read about on another thread mentioned jumps over obstacle and reaching and tacking up wind. that would be exciting. people want some action.

The boarder cross is awesome, trouble with it is when you land and stack it someone lands on your head at max speed doing anything to win, your safety is not their concern - all part of the fun- stay in front!
