I don't think anyone's even going to see kiteboarding on TV during the Olympics. At least not in the US. When it comes to sailing in the Olympics, they don't really televise it. They just show a few minutes with highlights of all the classes. I doubt they will spend much time at all showing kiteboarding. Maybe five minutes a day.
On the plus side though, they will show plenty of women's beach volleyball!

Now the Venezuelan National Sailing Authority has said that it dissociates itself from the vote of its representative for kiting to be included in 2016. http://www.windsurfingtour.com/?p=5310

SO -- how many people world-wide will be watching and Wishing they could do what we kite-boarders do ; as they live , (( Vicariously )) through their TV set and watch the kites Race ? Bille Rubbish! 200M watching? What a hype. I challenge you to name 3 gold medalists of the last games out of your head. Or anyone who is not a couch potato. Hundreds of medals and sports even more sub categories. Thousands of obscure competitors. Thousands of officials and sponsors. Pierre de Coubertin is shaking of anger in his grave.

Yeah that's brilliant create olympics where if a poor guy like Jim Thorpe plays some baseball so he can have money to eat you take away his gold medals. F*** Pierre De Coubertin and his vision of the games between gentle barely perspiring aristocrats who win without grunting because all the lower class athletes are grinding out a living playing professional sports. To Pierre De Coubertin it would be so unfair if those smelly lower class people were allowed in the olympics, why they dig ditches and such, of course they would have unfairly fabulous muscles. don't treat the olympics like it is some kind of awesome even 100 years ago, it's been full of dirty politics and class warfare from the very start.

Pierre de Coubertin (re)created the Olympics. Full stop. The industry is destroying them. Full stop. The sponsors are the new aristocrats. Nothing changed. Or if it did it's for the worse. I'll shock you: IMHO there should not be such thing as professional sport. In the times where Olympics were reserved to amateurs, and they beat the crap out of the professionals in events that mixed the 2 kinds. And they were not aristocrats. In winter Games, the typical champion was a mountain farmer (literally a cow boy). You don't know what you are talking about mate. You are unaware that you are licking the arse of the big multinational corporations. Do your homework, then come back.

Hows the World Cup - Poor south Africans sued for selling things entitled "World Cup South Africa 2010" - its a sad world we live in.... Modern Olympics are a farce. 10 or 15 thousand "athletes". Over a thousand medals. Hundreds of categories and subcategories of so called "sports" many of which no-one heard of. I bet hardly anyone remembers (or even knew) the name of even 3 gold medallists of the last Olympic Games. "Olympic Games" has become a commercial brand.

One of the very greatest, a typical representative of the aristocratic caste? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_OwensAnd remember who snubbed him: Quote: Owens said, "Hitler didn't snub me – it was FDR who snubbed me. The president didn't even send me a telegram." On the other hand, Hitler sent Owens a commemorative inscribed cabinet photograph of himself. Jesse Owens was never invited to the White House nor were honors bestowed upon him by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) or his successor Harry S. Truman during their terms. In 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower honored Owens by naming him an "Ambassador of Sports."

He decided to capitalize on his success by returning to the United States to take up some of the more lucrative commercial offers. United States athletic officials were furious and withdrew his amateur status, ending his career immediately. Owens was angry, saying, "A fellow desires something for himself. . . .Owens ran a dry cleaning business and worked as a gas station attendant to earn a living. He eventually filed for bankruptcy. In 1966, he was successfully prosecuted for tax evasion." olympic aristocratic bastards. The guy who beat Hitler and you guys were furious that he wanted a little money to feed his family. The olympics is a dirty business.
