Hi, had surgery on my heal bone and small amount on Achilles tendon 6 weeks ago, they had to cut some bone away, I think they call it "pump bump". Anyway there are lots of ankle supports out there, can anyone recomend one to use for kiting, all the ones I've looked at are for dry use, want to get back on the water sooner rather than later so any help would be aprecated :thumb:

I've kited and windsurfed with an ankle brace in the past. I was using a "dry" one which laces up. The key is that you get sand and things rubbing and wearing into your foot. I took an old cut-off sleeve from a wetsuit and made it into a sock to wear under the brace. I cut a hole for my heel to poke through, and it is stretchy enough to fit the foot pretty well. In my case I had it cover the whole area under the brace, but not much else, so the heel and ball of the foot were still bare.

Water use might be hard on it so it does not last as well as in shoes, but it wasn't too bad. I was using the middle one on this page, a fairly low tech one I think
http://www.mmbrace.com/swedeobraces/ank ... pport1.htm but I didn't try any others so can't say if it is special.

Good luck with it!
Peter

this reaction by you, on just about every post the he makes. Bin
going on for a Long time now. Why Is that ? It doesn't make for
very good reading ; kinda like brushing the fly's away from my cherry pie,
after a while it gets annoying but i manage to eat the pie anyway.

Why can't you two kiss & make-up ?

HEY Bille here is the deal :D

When 14Toeside uses "any" kind of cartoons to express himself it is because he "approves" Supa!
You see....he lives 0.966 Latitude North of Supa.....and we are very good friends
And all those emoticons are "inside" jokes between us that mean :thumb:

There is no need to join a rock band (Kiss+make-up) and wear platform shoes kiting either.....
Enjoy your "cherry pie a la mode" my friend :party1:

Chillbay my left ankle is still healing from some fairly serious soft tissue damage. 5 months of rehab exercises, 20 minutes a day 5 days a week, no kiting for 2 months during peak season :(

Once i was back in the water my physio got me a nylon ankle brace similar to the swede o mede except it has less lacing + 1 velcro strap each side of the ankle that go under the foot and attach back at the opposite side of the ankle for lateral support and then another large velcro strap that secures around the top. I have taken some heavy impacts with this brace on its given me great support and no recurrence of pain.

Manufacturer is JS Sports, i had a quick look on the web but cant find my one but this one is very similar. No issues in the ocean just wash it thoroughly after each session.
