How much wind did he need?
What size kite did he need?
Looks like a TT (yes/no) ?
Would seem that a very narrow gun directional would be more appropriate for "Hawaii"

Based on info seen on the Cabrinha site, the 7m Switchblade was used in 30knots of wind.

Ummm is anyone else wondering on what basis this is a record? or is it just some self promotion social media propaganda.
Is Damo an Hawaiian?
Is the speed over a certain distance or period?
was it timed with timing equipment or GPS?
was it a recognized GPS?
was it recognized software?
I suspect none of the above.
Nice bit of self promotion though.
P.S 43.33knots puts Damo at 74th on the all time GPS ranking list.

...............I want to talk about "EFFICIENCY" under kite power water records instead..............

Going 44.33 in 30 knots is 1.48 times the wind speed (yippee)

Going 46.52 knots(53.5mph or 86.2 km/h) in19-20 knots(37 km/h) is "2.32 times the wind speed"
This record belongs to the Yellow Pages Endeavour (winged type sailboat) set in Australia 1993

Windsurfing has 49.09 knots world speed record in 45-50 knots of wind (going about wind speed)

Not sure "with what windspeed" but kite the world speed record = 55.65 knots (that is fast&furious)

So my question at what wind speed does "our efficiency start declining" with kites ?

Can we go 2.32 times the wind speed in 10,15 or 20 knots ??
This would mean a speed of 23.2knots in 10 knots of wind or 34.8 knots in 15 knots winds

Has those kind of competitions ever been held in steady winds of 10,15 or 20 knots ?
Just to see who has the EFFICIENCY record in light to moderate winds

Was just wondering

Let me help ya help here.

1. Damo is not a Hawaiian, nor did he ever claim to be. This was the speed record for someone in Hawaii.

2. It's an average speed over 500 meters

3. No, he guessed it....of course it was on a GPS

4. You suspect wrong.

Why do you have to be such a debbie downer slingslut? 43 knots is a heck of a run. The ludertiz runs are a bit special because of the conditions there you know that.
