Bullshit Low Wind Ranges Claimed by Kite Companies

We had the opposite end of the scale yesterday ... I started out on the 21 nicely powered but then the wind picked up - the others were riding 12 and 10 LEIs :lol:

hurrah for the Speed3 wind range!

Billy, i don't just ,mean using raceboards to claim a windspeed is bullshit, I mean not clearly stating the rider weight and board type used to make those claims is bullshit.

Just want to post my experience in light wind.

My light wind kite is Wind-X Monsoonz. For some reason Wind-X put 14m on it, but the kite is huge - probably 18-19m. I compared it to Turbine 17m and it is at least 1m bigger. Monsoonz is also ultra flat - almost as flat as Flysurfer. I had Speed 2 before this kite and can say that these 2 kites have exactly the same low end range.

The best I can do on this kite with my 180lb and Spleen Door is kite and stay upwind in 6-7 knots. 5 knots - not a chance. I tried Fat Lady in the same conditions - had to walk back. I think Fat Lady needs at least 1 knot more.

About Infinity V2. I saw a very experienced and well known (on this forum) rider try to show it off in 6-7 knots wind. He was able to ride, no problem, but it ended up in a mile long walk on the beach...

sub 12 knots. wheels are more fun! get a landboard!

Thanks, but 10-12 knots is plenty fun for most 16m kites on water!

10-12 knots is powered on my 12m on the water. but i'm not overweight.

10-12 knots is powered on my 12m on the water. but i'm not overweight.

Well i never said it wasn't fun on the water,..... just more fun on the land in those winds!.. you go faster. upwind better, jump higher...plus you get a closer few at the eye candy on the beach.

ps. you must be the weight of a rat dog to be powered on a 12 in 10 knots. I simply don't believe. Hell i'm not powered on my 15m until 16 knots and i'm 82 pies. I guess we have a different idea of what powered is.

Well for starters I'm light enough that I don't use food as a weight measurement.
