Hi all.

I've just noticed there's a crease in the underside of my board: about 4 inches long, running across the board, under one of the inserts.
Is the board shagged, or can this be repaired?

Sounds like your board is buckled...can you see anything on the rail?
if not it might be a leak around the insert...any water coming out?

Can definitely be fixed but not easy to fix. Don't ride until you know since it might take break it clean off....

I'm assuming your talking about a twin tip? If that is the case then I would not worry about trying to fix it. Just ride it till it breaks as long as the fiberglass is not cracked it should hold up. I only ride wood core boards for this reason as foam is just not that durable. Sure it is way lighter but I don't find the difference in weight to be a big deal.

Yeah, sorry should have said it was a twintip.Think its a wooden core, so I guess it being watertight is less of an issue, just wondering if i should ride it to destruction or try to fix it.

Don't Ruin your board there Dude ; it's an Easy Fix.

Measure 2" on ether side of the crease and 1" above & below
& mark with a felt pen.

Sand in Lil circles with 60g paper.

get some 4 0r 5oz glass & mark same as the lines on the board for
the first layer but the second layer is 1/2" smaller and the third
layer is 1/2" smaller than the second.

The glass goes down +-45 deg from the crease on the board so
more fibers intersect the break.

Clean Real good with Denatured alcohol and wet out the glass with
at Least 30min Epoxy ; 60min will give a better bond.

Soak the glass with More epoxy than needed but then take
paper-towels and blot off the excess. Don't Over do-it !!

Not counting Beer, should take you an hour Max !!

Bille

A pic would help. Water is all ways an issue. Any water in the core will ruin the board regardless if it foam or wood. It just might take longer in the case of wood.

a. foam is just as durable as wood cores if built properly, dont believe the hype! Im guessing you took a crash catching the nose or tail first thus bending the board in opposite direction to rocker? In this case its about board thickness, usually too thin with wood cores to keep weight down. a bottom will almost never fail in tension unless something went wrong in construction or was underglassed or too thin. Another possible crash source is landing hard and flat with too flexy core or underglassed skin

b. could be repairable depending on the bottom skin laminate... if its got a graphics sheet Id just ride it till it breaks, its a bottom crease so not as critical as the top sheet. If it doesnt, or you dont care about graphics strip it down to bare glass and patch with cloth and epoxy, (at least 10 oz worth of glass running the length of the board)

Thanks for the replies.
Think I did it landing an sbend really hard on the back foot in about 6 inches of water? Don't really give a shit about the graphics, so i think I'll try glassing it.
