Did my first course race last weekend! With the Sector V3 60. Between the 70cm raceboards. In winds of 18-22 knots I was able to compete in the top group with pro and amateurs racers! A bit less upwind but winning in the downwind :)

I used the 10 and 13m VarialXR

With 13m2, I Can go in 8-10 knots.

(85kg, 4 fin setup, will try the 3 fin setup soon)

Cool. Where do you race?

Would like to hear how the Sector 60 v3 competes against the 70cm boards in light wind (<10 knots) as well.

Just got my 60 v3 delivered today 05/19. Ordered from kiteboarding.com. Came from Airush Canada warehouse ordered 05/07.
Going to go to Kailua to try it out tomorrow. will be my first time on a race board. :jump:
Will use a lower aspect kite Airush one 12m to start on. Hope to learn fast and then buy me a race kite next.

Your gunna have some funnnnn. :thumb: The Sector is something you'll pick up in minutes compared to a full on raceboard. I love the Sector with lower aspect kites on the reach...hold on tight!

cheers

Lucky Guy;

I wanted a V3 60 but couldn't find them anywhere... I bought a V2 60 which I tried for the first time yesterday. WOW !!! what an amazing board. The wind was medium light yesterday morning (12-15 knots) so I went and played with it with a Best Kahoona 11.5 and it was a real blast.

Last night the wind must have been around 8-9 knots and then picked up to about 12 knots. I was with a Best TS 15m on 28m lines and I was just blasting around. That board is really easy to ride. I have to master the gybe but I think that a couple more sessions I should be ok.

I was riding in medium chop and to my surprise the ride was less bumby than I taught. I think I will wind up with a V3 54 also before the end of the summer.

Schmidy was right had lots of fuuuuuuun.
First day out with v3-60 today at Kailua. Not a chop to be seen. Must of been about 7 to 11 knots. Many large kites walking up the beach back up to the launching zone. My goal was to return home to my launch pad. No problem on my 17.5 OR Flite. Too simple, so I tried my friends 12m W Boss. was just fine no struggle at all. If I wasn't a new to kiting (6 months) I think I could of done it on 10 meter ( I weigh 84kg). First tack was a little wobbly. Five minutes later was rocketing back and forth to launch area. Felt like a pro. Maybe the Olympics (age 53) , until I tried my first duck jibe. I think I need more time on that department before I race my local race pals.
Freinds on the beach said I found my calling in life. I told them "it's the board and 1,250 bucks not me". They all couldn't believe how well and fast I adjusted to a race board. I didn't tell them it was not really a race race board I just let them think I had special race powers. Most were other noobe's like me. The old guys knew I had a fun semi race board.
Well this was the most fun time I had kiting (pretending to be special natural race kiter). Going to be the same tomorrow. Will be back on noobe territory trying to duck jibe.
Wish me luck and not to many falls jibing.

Ha ha, amusing...
It's true. The V3's are beautiful boards. Can't believe how fast and free the 60 feels, and just so easy! I have been abused by plenty of race boards before now....
Just take the the praise, embrace the smug ;-)

I've had some time to ride all three now and had them out vs. an Aguera race board.

I agree that they are all faster downwind than pure race boards. However, I could not keep up on the upwind legs. As you would guess, the bigger the board and fins got, the closer I got to keeping up. Keep in mind I am a recreational rider and kite shop owner and I was riding against a world ranked racer.

I really love the texture on the boards that makes moving my feet around super easy and sticky. No wax needed.

Yesterday when I finished with lessons I took out the 54 in waist high surf with an 8m Ozone Reo and had a blast. Smacking those little lips was almost as easy as with a regular surf board. Bottom turns had more drive for sure and that made it harder to stay on the wave and hit it over and over. I've only ridden the 54 with one front strap and the swept fins.

Anyway, here are some pics of the 60 and 66 showing the deck shaping.

Of course, all the Sectors are jump on and go. The Aguera takes some practice.

Hi,

Fin replacement is taking longer than expected. I have a v3 60 and would like to try the tri-fin configuration.

Could anybody owning a v3 66 post some detailed images of the back central fin. I would like to check the cant to find the most similar alternative.

Thanks in advance!
