Hi guys getting nothing as usual on my local forum so as usual will need your help.

Can you give me potential/s Airush kites for winds 25 to 35 for a 75kg to 85kg rider, west coast of Australia.

Type of kite and why would be appreciated, taking into account I have a 10m Varial X already.

I am an experienced rider of 12 years.

My concern is the VX may fly to fast to the edge of the window in the smaller sizes. Might need something more stable that sits deeper in the window.

I also do a fair bit of wave riding in winter, not so much summer here. Hence the VX is perfect in the size I have.

Cheers in advance.

I recently flew a 6m Airush One in some very gusty windy conditions in Tenerife and TBH I never expected much from it. However, it turned ou to be such a fun little kite, super stable, boosts massive and with the shape and one strut doesn't drop you like a stone afterwards. It has a load of depower and the power delivery was not spikey at all plus the feedback was very good (I ride Razors) for what is more a delta shape as I usually find them to be quite spongey.

Another surprise was there was no canopy flutter which I thought would be a problem with the one strut design, but the shape and canopy layout seem to counteract this - and I was really giving it some beans. I'm 80kg and was on a 135 twin tip and think this would work across both styles pretty easy and would let you ride waves plus go out and have some big boosting fun when it really picks up? It definitely sits deeper in the window and does not forward turn with as much power as the VX but you can make it turn progressive i.e. whip it around pivot style or you can make it arc more with a bit more pull depending on how you handle it at the bar. I know I got some pretty big boosts of some decent waves and used a fast downloop to come in and land toeside down another.

The alternative is actually smaller VX as I'm assuming you get a lot of on/cross-on conditions in WA and the forward flying should not be a huge problem - I have had an 8m out here in some 40mph cold Scottish winds so not like the weak assed thermal stuff you antipodeans get  and one of the standout things about the VX is how it retains feel and direct handling even when fully depowered.

If you are buying new and you don't need it right away it might be worth while holding back a little longer to see what the 2013 range has in store :thumb:

Yeh haven't considered the one. Ideally I'd stay with the a VX, if I went a 6m, at what wind would I at least have enough to get going and change over.

We actually get a lot of cross shore as well on the southerly, on shore stuff is for winter really.

Yeh something like the one is probably also a strong option as it is built to be stable, fly predictable much more tame than the VX. I like the idea the VX behaves well depowered though. Still has me puzzles having bridle / pulleys. Got be stuffed really.

Actually the VX canopy shape is like nothing Ive seen before, really unique. Airush have done a good job here. Well beyond my understanding it seems.

Airush did a great job with the VX. It is the most direct and responsive bridled kite I have flown with a solid feel and good forward drive/power in the turn. I think it is a combination of the high aspect swept tip C Arc 'SL-C' design with their V3 bridle - who would have thought more than one pulley would actually increase feel and feedback?

There are other bridled C kite designs with similar multiple pulley bridle setups that offer good feedback; however the VX still feels like it manages to use the wing-tips and not just the centre section of the kite and this gives it better feel/power in the turn.

The 8m I had went massive - this is it in wind that I could hold the 9m Razor in easily but if we had an extra 5 knots it would have really boost!
