Flyboards Radical 4

The Flysurfer kiteboarding team traveled down to a beautiful lake close to the French Atlantic coast, packed with the newest Speed3 Deluxe Colored Edition kites and the complete line of new Radical4 freestyle boards from Flyboards.

The new Radical4 lives up to its name. Even sportier than its predecessor, the Radical4 is available on the market in four sizes. The Flyboards-Development team surrounding Andreas Hanrieder and Eddy Lansink did an excellent job, optimizing the Radical4 in practically all regards over its older brother.

Anyone have a chance to ride one of these yet? How does it compare to last years model?

hey,

I tried it a bit on the worldcup in Germany, but cant compare to the last years model (own the 2009).

Compared to the 2009 model, it has quite a lot of flex, feels really nice in choppy water.
Very good upwind ability, nice riding!
Very easy for high speed landings, felt controlled all the time (I rode it).
Nice pop when doing unhooked stuff.

What I didnt like much are the straps - I would prefer the ones from 2011.
After some harder kiteloop landings they opened a bit. Then you lose some control.

Overall a really nice board, a lot of people will love!
But I personally prefer the hard stiff 2009 model :cool2:

They still did a good job on this!

I don't like either style of the old straps - the 2010 ones also 'open' themselves, and the 2011 ones tend to pull out of the buckle and totally release. I was hoping the laces would be more effective :(

Love my Flyradical though! :thumb: and the Flydoor :o

I got a 134X40 and I tried it for about 4 hrs this past Saturday. I simply love it! Very nice board, light weight, just enough flex to my taste, not too much rocker too, great pop and easy to land softly. But I also did not like the parts that block the lace on the strap, it take too much time to perfectly adjust and they tend to loosen after a hard landing from a kiteloop for example. But the pad are really comfortable. Overall it is one of the best board I've tried. I will just need to get use to the lace strap system.

I am sorry but I can't compare to previous model, it is my first Flyboard.
