Any racebaord will be able to be raced.
Don't show up with a twin-tip or a surfboard but any real race board can be used.
It don't not need the IKA sticker on it.

So did anyone actually race with a non-IKA production board?
Seems like this was the chance for anti-production-board-rule people to show how the rule is holding back the design of boards! Show up with your custom board and fly past everyone

YES!
Figure the guys in the "open" class were running outdated or non production boards.....Ken winner and sky solbach appeared to be riding north prototypes.

Real question is who did well on anything other than a Mike's lab? Even Lake is rocking one of these now........

Yes Sky and Ken Winner both used North prototype boards.
Olivier Dansin and Brian Kender rode non-production boards.
Local Boriana Viljoen took 2nd for the ladies on her husband's old board that is no stranger to the podium in San Francisco.
Another board was in the fleet that has a won a lot was Johnny's original 163 Mike's Lab that was the orgins of what now is the 70. This board is know as the brick board and Erika Heineken used it all last year until her name came up on Mike's list for her 70.
I think the take away from this is until you can get a board on demand the rules need to be relaxed.

Geoff Headington is the first to to not be in the open class and not be on Mike's board.
He was on a Nils' board.
Good thing that Nils and Mike where around they both did on the beach board repairs
Nils fixed Sky's prototype to true sportsmanship going on there.
FYI - Lake has been on Mike's Lab for a while. he got his 1st on a few weeks before the Worlds last year!

Johnny, Adam, Burnnie & Riccardo are all on production Mike's Lab 70s.
Mike makes all his boards in the his factory aka "The Lab" to the exact spec sent to the IKA. if measure, weight, etc they are all the same.
If you want a Mike's lab board you get on the list. He will give you an ETA right now it VERY long.
His also list includes Formula and slalom windsurfing boards.

Hmmm, so anyone riding North board with good results is using non-production version? I wonder if it is because North production boards are too crappy to be raced successfully...
