Well as we know there is no FREE ride in reality...and do disguises when riding :anon:

And you are not interested to going out in 7 knots..and both kites can fly unaided overhead in 6 kn

You have to pay full price + tax (no bro deal)....they both relaunch Supaez in 8 knots (9 mph)

Same choice between the 2 giants out there.......the SP3 21 or the XR2 19

$3000 gives you 7-17 knots versus $2400 that gives you 8 -18 knots..both can jump/one loops best

So what is your pleasure..learn something new (foil)...or stay with something you are "familiar" with

Your answer will surely have to do with :

Your location,type of board,your skills,style,weight,flat water,waves,wind type quality etc.....

But the real question still is to "justify" to amount of money your are willing to spend for LW

It's not just the similar wind range that these kites offer, it's the other attributes that foil kites offer the pilots such as

* No bladders to worry about leaking or bursting or becoming unglued
* Very small packing size for traveling
* No need to carry a pump with the kite when traveling
* Resell values are generally higher for foil kites

It's hard to compare foil and tube kites when they both cover the same wind range since you're not comparing apples to apples.

To each his own; our kites are just tools to let us capture and enjoy the wind.

If buying a foil were to remove me from your circle of friends, I would gladly do it.

I would buy neither at full retail. i'd wait months/years until i found a second hand unit for less than 1/2 retail. i couldn't justify that spend.

infact thats exactly what i did. but i was looking for a 15m speed 3 dlx which i paid $1100usd for.

a can get going around 4 knots by adding wheels!. stay on the wheels until it hits 15 then i'm in the water.

Great first post Knotmyfault !!!

That is a $3000 headache :wallbash: :desperado:

Is the paperbag :anon: waterproof

In all due respect the 21 is awesome but it can have it's moments like any other kites but just worse

The 21 and 19XR2LW are precision German LW flying machines and are matched by no others

They offer the maximum insurance that your drive to the pond or beach will not be in vain (skunked)

If you cannot ride with a 21 then no one else can but the next person who will ride will have that 19

Listen if you have $5400 laying around it could be a  great idea to just own both IMO

The 2 most powerful kites in the world.......from Germany designers...Flysurfer and Core :thumb:

I only own the 19XR2LW at this time (30 sesh/50 hrs)..& when i had the 21 i did (100 sesh/250 hrs)

At the average weight of 75kg/165lbs i am able to get within 1 knot of low end that the 21 gave me

Pretty good for this special made LW tube kite...look up the Core website if you want to learn more

Pretty much not good form posting pictures of someone else out of context.

So here is the real story.

PKRA Germany. Wind dropped and i screwed up an ditched the kite. They cancelled the race as the wind was pretty much gone.

I was in the process of self rescuing, but i was forced to get in the rescue boat immediately as the current was drifting me into the Swimming area. So no time to pack down the kite properly before they went and dragged it into the boat not really caring about rolling it up properly.

Then we could not get in close enough to the beach because of the waves. And they basically chucked me out of the boat with all my stuff.

You will note: It's still Floating. And actually not tangled. I swam back to the beach. Laid it out and managed to get it flying again in about 5 minutes.

Here is the prove.
50h/30s = 1.66 hour/session
250h/100s = 2.5 hour/session

So you have less fun with Core as on average you have shorter sessions.. :D Tell me why? Doesn't it pull? Doesn't it jump & glide? Doesn't it work on wake style? Your technique & endurance should be better as you have practiced 250h/100sessions your skills & body with the 21 before having Core. I'd expect longer averages on riding as you have new kite what you LOVE  .

I'd be interested to know how much did you loose money while owning the 21 (purchase price - selling price)? What was the price per session and price per hour?

It is quite bold for you to make claims that Core 19XR2LW is World's second 'strongest / gruntiest' kite surfing kite as you omit Speed3 19m, Speed2 19m SA, even Speed3 15m, Spleene X-19, Big Mama, Dyno 18m what ever are those big LEIs or little smaller but faster LEIs (17m Edge, Infinity, Turbine, Fly etc) and many other. Have you measured them side-by-side? Or you are just making something to become true what you see on local beach with people with many boards, limited kite selection, many weights, many preferences when to kite, many styles of kiting (lawn moving, old school, new school, racing or combo) and many skill levels?

About your fixation to try to prove Core is the best kite for everybody, please give up. You did not like Speed3 21m but still rode it for 250 hours hating it and we already know it. You like Core 19XR2LW and want everybody else to buy it and I'd like to test it but not buying it blind. Good for you that you found something good for you and your wife!

Please post your light wind fun/trick -videos online, I'd always enjoy watching them and have some inspiration for my riding.

What happens if you drop that sucker in some surf?? Sh*t happens when learning new moves... I've dropped my 12 LEI in small (2-3') surf and I'm amazed by the shapes it takes on. It's gotten totally wadded up but somehow always gets straightened out and relaunches. I can't imagine the outcome would be the same with a foil of any size. Otherwise I like the idea of the foil, it looks way more efficient.
