ahhh. made myself a mutant a month or so back and i'm loving the style

Fits my riding style sweetly. Fang out boosting airs through the white wash to slash onto a wave face for some upwind wave riding. rinse and repeat. over and over and over.

oh yeah loving it.

I'm not feeling any limitation compared to the TT. I'm doing all the same stuff and more.

whose else is a mutant lover?

Curious - what is "upwind" waveriding ?

Riding without turns thus not losing upwind ground but gaining ?

Or ?

Can not figure that one out

:D Peter

So you made the board yourself? Can you post a picture of the board?

Tried the Mako King a few times in mutant but didn't like it. Maybe I need to give it another chance.

riding waves upwind can mean several things (to me) , but mainly side-on wind!
not so vertical going up the line not down the line.
trim upwind, cutbacks, smaller bottom turns, possibility of staying in or near barreling part of wave -maybe even IN barrel if it's big enough ...
on the other hand, if wave and wind angles not right, or weak conditions, could be slow, boring compared to downwind.
Not boring here though:

yep bwd has it. my conditions are 95% cross on to cross shore. you can use the wave to carve a higher upwind line.

I enjoy a nice jump on the way out then slash onto a wave face. The holey grail for me is to jump and then transition onto the next wave face. it doesn't happen that often tho! theres a particular part of my local that peels a little bit then jacks up and dumps. so i like to ride with a few turns and then scream as fast as i can upwind on the wave face as it jacks up. The challenge is to ride the face as long as possible before it dumps and mothers you.

Its a short wave ride compared to riding down the line but my rotation is about one boost/wave ride per minute. its just a constant flow of boost/waveride. i love it.

great fun.

yeh plummet they just don't know what they are missing. I scratch my head all the time why most don't use a modern mutant, with emphaisis on modern. And you had to build one yourself to find out. Something on that

The early ones I rode were well crap. Then again how good is that shot of the dude getting barrelled. Sweet.
