besides the windsurfers one is much more technical and aesthetically more attractive?

All this hype is overrated. I mean all there is going to be is ONE PERSON from each country racing. Yes correct me if im wrong but only ONE person to represent from the USA in kite racing

Yep, anyone wanting to be in Rio is probably going to have to specialise for 4 years in being the best at kiting in very light winds on flat water, with the best possible gear for those conditions.
The only good thing out of all that will be that we will learn a lot about kite racing in very light winds.
Nick Dempsey was reportedly 8kg of muscle heavier in 2012 than he was in 2008, because he and all the other windsurfers had to starve themselves to below their ideal BMI for the very light winds in Beijing. Wrestlers and other Olympians do the same to meet weight categories, and the kiters at Rio are likely to have to do the same.
