If you pay for a "Full course does this mean you should beat least going downwind when it finishes" Or is it a certain amount of hours? Where I live there seems to be some discussion I am just curious. Tks :bye:

if they don't mention any hours...they should mention a goal to be reached.
But I doubt anyone would do that...so rather theory and then 1, hr trainer kite practice and then a big kite for up to 10 hrs...no matter if you get onto the board or not.

I would expect a full course to get me up to board starts but it's would not be wise to promise that as everyone has a different learning speed. What I do at my school is 1 day and 2 day courses with each day lasting 6 hours, it's all detailed on the website as to where people get to on average, I have had people doing 12 hours and not acheiving the required kite skills to try boardstarts and also recently had a top class snowboarder 1-1 for 5.5 hours before being ready for boardstarts, he was riding in both directions within another hour. this is highly unusual though but on average 9-10 hours should get you to boardstarts. It should be made clear if it is to a certain skill level or for a number of hours.

I keep my catamaran at a buddy's house for $100 a month rent ; lately he's bin trading me
rent, to teach his 16 year old son to kite. The soccer players leave the park at 9:pm
and the sprinklers come on at 11:pm and it usually blows 2 to 5mph, so that's two hours
each lesson on my 10M PL Venom. I use a boat-bilge blower with Li-Polly battery's, to blow
the ram-air kite up.
It took two lessons, before he grasped how to pull up the kite to 45deg then turn it for forward
speed , and do up or down turns depending on the energy and wind speed, to keep it flying.

My 26 year old new neighbor was a helicopter mechanic in the Army, and she was flying
the kite with the same understanding as the 16 year old ------------------------- within 45min !
Turns out the lesson to the girl was Worth it ; she designed me a foot for my prosthetic that
is WAY better than stock "State of the Art" ; wish I had the same type of creativity. That girl
should be taking mechanical engineering classes in college , instead of working as another
cute waitress in a Vegas casino.

YEP -- everyone has a different learning speed.

Tks for all the replies and yes Billie you state that point good that everyone takes thier own time to learn.

I just had a friend that bought a complete course and he still is not close to even going downwind that Is why I asked. I wasnt there when henegotiated the deal but now he is unhappy because the complete course has left him an umcomplete kiter. My opinion is a course should be sold as such and such amount of hours or complete till your going. I guess mistake was in not clarifying what complete meant? :cool2:

I would most certainly think that it would be a certain amount of hours, because like others have mentioned, everyone has a different learning speed. I was up and going after 4 hours and never took lesson again, yet when it came time to transition it took me an embarrassing amount of time. Living on kite beach in Cabarete has definitely shown me an array of teaching styles and learning styles.

Unfortunately I think your friend should have clarified what "full course" meant before paying his/her money to ensure their expectations were met..... Every school has a different method of teaching and in theory should communicate what they are offering but like Billie said everyone has a different speed of learning and let's not forget that speed can vary heavily on the conditions of the day....Full kite course on windless beach isn't going to help too much :(

Yes I agree I think buyer wasnt really clear on what he was buying, also seller could have been a little clearer maybe too. I wasnt there so I cannot comment on exact words etc.
