Wave Jet for kiting Offshore Winds

Postby darippah » Thu Sep 13, 2012 3:25 pm

Been thinking… might be a good idea to get one of these to use when riding offshore winds in waves… Just turn it on if you can’t make it back to shore, and you’ll be able to get your equipment in no problem. A little bit expensive, but hey if it allows you to ride in offshore/ side offshore winds it might be worth the investment 

How much does that thing weigh? 100 lbs?

Probably horrible to kite on if you could kite on it at all.

I'm pretty sure it only weighs 15 lbs more than a regular board

16lbs is what they claim on their website... plus the wristband that acts as your wireless 'throttle.'

Are we talking about the board that has an engine and a waterjet inside it? Only 16 pounds? That is pretty impressive if it is true.

"16 pounds heavier" is a clever way for them to describe it though. How much do typical surfboards weigh? 5 pounds? Wouldn't want to say "only 4 times as heavy as a surfboard"

A surfboard with a miniature motor ... and you would entrust it with your life when you can't make it back to shore?????
