hey, I'm looking for a light-wind kite, something to ride in 8 - 12 kt. but I'm not looking for a kite just to ride in those winds, but something to do unhooked tricks and such freestyle stuff. can Edge do that, or is Zephyr exactly what I need?
I'm 75 kg and I know how to ride light-wind. Currently I own Kahoonas 7,5 and 9,5 and can ride in 10+ kt with a skim board.
thanks, peter

ill extrapolate a little.
zephur is power is more obvious and easy. relaunch is easier too. so for unhooked action and the associated crashing your kite that goes on with that the zep is definately the better option.
The edge gains huge power with aparent wind. The faster you go the more power it produces. its sorta like a tubo winding up. So that may play havoc with your unhooked action.

Have ridden both.
The Edge is more maneuverable and requires more technique in low wind, ie around 10k and is difficult to relaunch in this wind.
The Zephyr is super easy to fly and relaunches in these winds.
Have flown both these kites in low 20k and they just get closer and closer to the window, which is not true of most kites over 14m

If you have Kahoonas, why not give 15 TS a try??? Awesome kite! use it for boosting and low wind unhooked freestyle my self! Works like a dream! Love the kite! easy relaunch, and solid pull and lift. Just pull in a couple of cm on the depower one the middle knot and unhook, even when others stuggle to stay on their board on their 12meters So much fun, works great for unhooked!

yes, I was considering TS, but I can get Zephyr at a better price. Btw. does anyone know when 2013 Zephyr comes out?

The TS also a flat skinny race kite. 2012 Blade Fat Lady is a way better shape than either of them for lightwind wakestyle.

give the fat lady a go if you want the kite for unhooking and tricks, it even loops well for a big kite. The FL is fast enough to even ride on a surfboard in the waves!
the other kites you mentioned are more for just mowing the lawn.
